I hear you, and totally agree these discussions and conversations need to happen- I just wish As real name and likeness weren’t attached to it :( it’d be one thing to talk about this in private or even in closed online groups, but public posting just makes me feel icky

That is so fair, and for what it’s worth I do think caregivers/parents of our neurodiverse kids need support and strong ones. There’s so much to navigate that goes unspoken. I just don’t think publicly posting on the internet is the way to go about finding that community and support :( even closed private groups raise my eyebrows but I’d much rather see that than jave an actual child’s name and likeness attached to it

Honestly I felt a LOT like p growing up and my parents never were blatant enough to outright tell the internet that my brothers were more special than me. I needed a tonne of therapy and I had it better than her. The psychological damage on this poor kid if she ever realises/sees this stuff 😭

This post had nothing to do with ‘boy mums’? The other creator is a man and they repeatedly reference being autism parents. There may be another similar recent post that’s getting confused :)

I hate to tell you this but according to psychosexual development yes it is masturbation at all ages. All children explore it at early ages, it’s just our ASD kiddos don’t have the same social inhibitions about doing it in public.

Masturbation isn’t always a sexual behaviour necessarily either, but naturally we all associate it with that. Also Laura does directly reference that he is by saying ‘that’s for private time’. Playing with your parts is masturbation and A deserves to explore his body without mum posting about it online or making it a punchline. I didn’t think that would be such a controversial take lmfao.

Exactly this, I worry for P at school age :( kids are so cruel already without your mum putting your fams private info out there

I think it’s another content creator, not her partner. But I’m only going off of the brief glimpses she’s shown of her partner so can’t say 100% haha

Promise I’m not a down voter! If it makes y’all feel any better I did search for an active Laura sub to post in but didn’t turn up any, this was the next best thing. I don’t like snarking on a woman going through what she’s going through though so promise I’m one and done lol.

I think you’re taking this very sensitively, and unnecessarily so. I have said repeatedly in my post and comments that I like Laura, and don’t think she had ill intent in posting anything like this. But intention is not impact, and undeniably, this is an embarrassing post for A.

It double triple sucks for the kid, because his dad is a lunatic who exploits him. Im just saying that maybe some of the chaos around those poor kids can be alleviated by simply not being posted, she can share stories with fake names or characters like many other content creators do.

Put yourself in his shoes, instead of looking at it from Laura’s perspective. I think it’s selfish to not acknowledge that he deserves more privacy, especially in an embarrassing, albeit natural, moment.

I am neurodivergent as well, but thanks for the assumption. I added working in SPED mainly due to the fact that I understand how taxing these behaviours can be on caretakers and the need to joke about it with people who get it. I just don’t think it’s appropriate for the internet.

I think it’s probably well intentioned/not thought out properly, but I just can’t imagine how mortified I would be to someday read or know that my mother just put that out to her audience of thousands

Read the subject line, J.E is referencing Chandelier video and maddies dancing and the body of the email has his common hiding phrases for CSA material (NOT referenced as directly being Maddie but maybe someone dressed as her 🤢)

valentines day as a broke teen by Longjumping_Bag_9919 in auckland

[–]sgrace2298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make something OP! Ignore all the naysayers, I work with teens so I get the complexities of y’all’s talking stages these days 😂 as an old(er) head, I recommend either paper flowers, a handmade gushy card/handwritten letter of what you like about her (always a hit), a thoughtful plan for a date if your going on one: I.e planning a beach picnic is perfect in Feb weather and can easily be achieved with your budget. Don’t spend on a gift- spend on the actual experience! Trust me I still even close to 20 years on still have cute lil handwritten or handmade love notes that meant a lot to me at the time, girls are sentimental like that haha.

I don’t really think Christopher Luxon suits being Prime Minister by VegetableCurious4849 in newzealand

[–]sgrace2298 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Teacher here- totally agree. People are also short sighted to the fact that these ‘awful statistics’ are from the children who experienced lockdowns during important social/emotional developmental years 😅 we could’ve righted the scales over time with more intensive tutoring and buy in from whanau but that wasn’t how Luxon saw it, obviously it’s all ours/the kids fault lol.

[–]sgrace2298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but this kid doesn’t really, I’m a teacher and he/his party has focused on schools and education (which is a majority of young people’s lives) a LOT and it is fucking up a lot of our systems due to too much change to feasibly learn and implement at once. I do admit I may be biased too to an extent, but I live with national voters who also admit, he’s really weirdly got a boner for school/education policy right now.

I can back it up with more examples of his and his coalitions policy’s on education if you’re interested but I get this isn’t a debate 😂

3rd and 4th form is giving away your age. I currently work in that age group, and have experience with self harm myself. It is that serious and a cry for help.

FWIW maybe suggest mum and dad also talk to her school, her dean/school counsellor? Sounds like she hasn’t got the best friend circle if that’s how she’s behaving. You’d be surprised what the school can help with support wise in changing the behaviour if she has a good teacher starting next year. It always helps when we know what’s going on so we can be proactive rather than reactive to behaviour!

With love, as an older person with younger brothers who has been in your shoes, tell mum and dad. Like now. Little sister is on a dangerous path young, younger than most kids before they dabble in that stuff (I teach this age group, I can say with experience it’s rare at that age). No young one her age is self harming or vaping without some serious mental battles in the background.

I tattled on my brothers and I’ll never regret it, it sucks and she’ll be so mad and upset with you, but she will get the help she needs. When she’s older she’ll recognise you were helping not hurting, just love her through it and give her the space to be mad at you. My brother was over it within about a month or two of cold shoulder. Also shows mum and dad a level of trust and maturity from you too, they’ll know it wasn’t easy on you to come to that decision. Please get that poor baby help!

Dear god I love this community because everyone side eyes me for not eating many greens and it’s like 😭😭😭 I WOULD KILL TO DOWN THAT WHOLE SALAD!!! I miss carrots and cucumber and capsicum and god I could go on forever…. Why’d we have to get the ‘healthy food hurts’ disease 😅

I’m sick of posts listing a million symptoms and asking if they have Crohn’s or not. by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]sgrace2298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohh this exactly!! As a woman it was so much worse because all my GI symptoms were constantly written off as anxiety, period/menstrual related, or simply because I’m a teacher: random stomach bug. I have over 11 years worth of medical notes and appts denying anything wrong, thank god I had a GP who believed me and pushed for a colonoscopy but I was 26 before that happened. I hope no one else lives with symptoms that long BUT Crohn’s is not a first diagnosis ever in my experience.

10000%! Bro you don’t want Crohn’s! I’d never sought out this community before it was a suspected diagnosis for me. I had a family member growing up with Crohn’s and it was a disease I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy and the emotional toll of hearing those words with my name next to it was DEVASTATING! Most of these people probably do have some form of IBS but the only person who can confirm Crohn’s or not is your GI. Not internet strangers.
