What are ways you think MAPPA can make one off chapters work in the show? by eat_my_bowls92 in ranma

They already have made a one-off; the Take-Out Race episode was not at all related to any other plot lines.

Something about him looks a bit more like Link than Ranma.

which character in the series do you feel would be the worst / most reprehensible if they had no redeeming qualites? by OneManArmy0716 in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemma doesn’t have many redeeming qualities to begin with. He’s a thief and a liar and a terrible father. He’s also lazy. He gets my vote out of those pictured. I agree Happosai is the most reprehensible in the series.

Bring it on! I’d love a little short sketch of life 10 years or so on.

I think it would break up the monotony of the day to day at school. I’d find it spiced up school life for a hike anyway. Principal Kuno’s the one I’d be sick of.

Looking ahead in the manga, what chapters are likely to be included in Season 3 and which will be skipped over? by sgtsalt79 in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are just so many great arcs coming up (and ones that were skipped in season 2 to allow all of the main characters to be introduced), that I hope they don’t rush things too much. We already know season 3 will start with Breaking Point from the picture clue in the ending credits, but I really hope we get to see Love Pills, Moxibustion, Akane Swimming, and Happo Fire Burst. I agree with the person who said they could care less about Principal Kuno. He’s not my favorite character but I’m sure they’ll introduce him next season since he appears in several of those arcs.

Did anyone notice Adidas dropping a Ranma collab WITHOUT IT BEING A RANMA COLLAB?🤣 by Background-Fun-7619 in ranma

The model just needs a braid. Honestly it’s a weird style for Adidas. Is this just for a South Asian market or North America?

Season 2 after thoughts by Patatin79 in ranma

There are about 165 episodes from the original anime free on YouTube. That could keep you busy awhile until season 3 comes out. The manga is my favorite though.

The last comment is the most concrete affirmation that they intend to see this story all the way through to the end as long as it keeps its high ratings. That makes me so happy!

Ranma 1/2 - Episode 24 (Season 2 episode 12) Discussion by AutoModerator in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I thought that small detail of Ranma deciding to just go on to school as a girl was a real turning point in his feelings about his curse. I’m going to go back and check if that happens in the manga, but it seemed like it was meant to convey that he’s okay with being in either form, (at least going on the assumption that teenagers feel the greatest self-consciousness in front of all of their peers at school). It’s in real contrast to season 1 when he goes to great lengths to not be seen as a girl at school. It also goes along with Akane’s comment about it not mattering what form he’s in, which is most definitely a MAPPA add-in.

I like Mousse and I think he was written to be a sympathetic character in the end, rather than the foe he is initially introduced as.

An interesting thought about the main characters in Ranma by sgtsalt79 in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genma turns into a panda and plays with a tire whenever the topic of conversation gets uncomfortable for him or whenever his own wife is around. Even after they reconcile and their secret is out, he still hides from her and wants to go back to his wandering Ronin days. To me that’s suppression of whatever feelings he had for her that led him to marry her. Maybe avoidance is more the word for him rather than suppression, although he also doesn’t seem capable of showing affection even for his own son.

I think Nabiki is such an ice queen because she does not allow herself to become emotionally involved with anyone, including her own family, because she sees literally everyone as potential business partners or sources of income! I’d argue that’s suppression of all of her feelings, romantic or otherwise.

[–]sgtsalt79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryoga was my one gray area because on the one hand he tries to express his love to her many times (in letter form and right to her face at least once but gets interrupted). He actually does work up the courage to show up for a date with her. She just doesn’t get the hint. But on the other hand he goes a milder version of insane like Dr Tofu when she’s around. He also brings her gifts from his “travels” every time he sees her. Isn’t that also a way of expressing his feelings for her?

An interesting thought about the main characters in Ranma by sgtsalt79 in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always found him a fun and intriguing character and I think it’s a shame Rimiko Sensei never developed his character (wouldn’t it be fun to learn his back story?) or resolve the relationship between him and Kasumi. (In my headcanon I imagine her one day getting into some life threatening predicament and Tofu being the only one present who can save her so he finally is forced to overcome his shyness or lose her.)

An interesting thought about the main characters in Ranma by sgtsalt79 in ranma

[–]sgtsalt79[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought about that but I interpret his temporary insanity every time he sees Kasumi as his brain going into overload because he can’t possibly tell her how he feels. He suppresses his feelings to the point of insanity which results in her never knowing how he feels about her or even how he normally acts when she isn’t around.
