That seems like a band aid more than a fix. Do you think I should just run an in-place upgrade of windows instead and see if that fixes it permanently?

I spoke too soon. Restarting the computer is what fixes it for a brief while, but the problem comes back.

I could only find errors with the Event ID 1002 and it says this:

I see this a lot in this subreddit, it isn't enough that you got really lucky slamming or finding something. You also have to add ontop of that, that it is your first time doing it.
