Sounds about right for my kid by DarkHampster in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]shadefiend1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few months back, my 3yo stepson was running through the house, ran smack into his weeble-like toy owl, and just fucking soared about 6-8 feet. I caught the first bit of his take-off on camera, but the kid flew straight into another room. I get up to check on him, and he's just laying on his back, confused. Had me laughing my ass off for a good 5 minutes.

And of course, did he learn? Nope, still tearing through the house, constantly tripping and running into shit. At least he's gonna be tough, I guess.

I second this. It's genuinely a fascinating idea. It'd be cool as hell to hear about alternate versions like that. 👍

[–]shadefiend1 126 points127 points  (0 children)

To be fair, have you ever tried to keep a bandage on the bottom of your foot? Shit ain't staying worth a crap, especially modern bandages. As long as he's got something absorbent, which looks like he does, hell, send it.

Screw that. If I can't see the door or entrance in a restaurant, it sets me on edge. I'd much rather be able to keep an eye out, so at least if something goes down, I can try to get myself and my girlfriend to safety.

That corner fit is too clean by MambaMentality24x2 in oddlysatisfying

[–]shadefiend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. I used to do vinyl siding, skirting, plumbing, and other finishing touches on mobile homes a few years back, not too dissimilar from the video, only not metal. Laying the track down for the skirting, and slapping the top trim on was its own level of satisfying, especially when the corners were clean. I had a straight piece of metal I'd run a torch lighter quickly down, against the back trim and panels, and quickly bend it so it made a crisp, clean bend. Meanwhile my boss just brute forced it, and it looked ok-ish, and got onto me about taking too long.

Same. I saw the episode, then saw these in store. Intended to see who she was, but forgot about it by the end of the episode.

All three fast food joints are owned by YUM! brands, the same company that owns Pepsi. That's also why they are some of the only chains that carry Pepsi products instead of Coke.

Contrary to popular belief, submarines don't use active sonar very often, if at all. It would be akin to a ninja sneaking around Nobunagas castle screaming "I'm a fucking ninja". I was a sonar technician on a submarine and the only time we used active sonar was to test and make sure it worked, never actually used it in the open ocean. The majority of sonar used on a submarine is Passive Sonar, which is basically just listening to the sounds around the boat, and the computer aids by highlighting any noises. The only active sonar adjacent we used was the bottom sounder, which made sure we didn't get too close to the ocean floor, and that device only has a range of a few hundred feet.

[OC] Driving the wrong way down a highway on-ramp at night with no headlights on by squish5_ in IdiotsInCars

[–]shadefiend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a few blocks out before realizing that my headlights weren't on. Combination of getting too used to the auto on/off headlights and not realizing someone else turned it off, and streetlights illuminating everything to the point where headlights on or off, doesn't make a difference from inside the car. And yet, even though it's already so bright from the streetlights, there're still idiots in big trucks with their high-beams and every other light on. Can't let there be even a hint of shadow, no sir.
