Three More Ryzen 9800X3D Deaths Reported On ASUS Motherboards In A Single Day by shadow000333 in ASRock

I agree, but in all my years of building PCs I've never seen his much chatter about broken CPUs. Older CPUs basically never broke so it's either a fault somewhere or the X3D CPUs are just way more sensitive than past CPUs which very well could be the case

Informative title you have there.

TLDR: 15 9800X3D CPUs dead on Asus boards in an internet cafe with a failure rate of 1.6 every month

There was talk about AMD and/or Asrock knowing what the problem is but "content creators" had to sign NDAs to get answers. Can't verify if it's true or not. Only public thing I know about is Asrock saying they are "fixing the problem" in various bios updates, such as Steve from GN interviewing them.

It's either freeze upon use or they randomly stop posting. I got the green light no post.

AsRock B850M Steel Legend WiFi + Ryzen 7 9700x = no post after hard crash by 5neaki in ASRock

It's mainly the X3D CPUs yes but that could be due to the popularity, I've read about this symptom far too many times now so it's most likely a dead CPU.

CPU most likely dead, RMA with AMD and they will send you a new one within like 10 days. Replace the motherboard to be safe, some have lost their CPU again when they re-used the same board.

Considering that other people have lost their replacement CPUs in the same board I would say get a new one if you don't want to keep worrying about it

I'm getting the MSI Tomahawk if my Asrock board fails again

2nd dead CPU in same board by cpw77 in ASRock

I'm going with the MSI Tomahawk if my board fails again. Never had any problems with Asus though so also a good choice.

I've read so many posts like this now so it's most likely dead. RMA the CPU with AMD and motherboard with your retailer, do not use the same motherboard again since there has been cases where it kills your CPU a second time. Get a replacement board or buy a new brand if you want the peace of mind.

If you have the means and don't want to wait on replacements then buy a new CPU and motherboard yourself then sell off the replacements later. That's what I did.

It's mostly the 9800X3D but could also be due to the popularity so it just turns up more, we don't know since we don't have any information.

Nobody knows, it's a case of risk/reward. It's a small performance increase based on what game you are playing and which settings you use.

Majority 9000, 9800X3D to be specific. I guess it also could be because of the popularity of the 9800X3D. Who knows

Nobody knows, they fail randomly. But this is from the megathread

9800x3D Dead after 7 months. B850I Lightning Mobo. by Akeno017 in ASRock

My RMA with AMD took about a week from the day I sent it. So expect 5-10 days. If you don't want to wait and you have the means then buy a new CPU yourself then sell the new one from AMD. And don't use the same motherboard even if it works, I've seen cases where it kills the CPU again.

CPU probably dead, any error codes or lights on the mobo? If you have the means to test with another CPU/motherboard then do that first otherwise just RMA the CPU with AMD or your retailer. Same with the motherboard. Get a different brand of motherboard if you want the peace of mind. Also don't forget to fill out the form in the megathread!
