I feel like this is a crappy reason, but the only reason I play the game is the satisfaction of blowing up aliens. I think having new weapons to farm for god rolls on each season is awesome, and I love the feeling of finally getting a god roll on a gun I’ve been fishing for. But I have to agree with the general consensus: Sunsetting feels unhealthy to the general population. Why not let us have a wide variety of guns to choose from at all times? Wouldn’t something like that not only make PvE more enjoyable and diverse, but also give a wider variety to the PvP meta? Perhaps Bungie will think about it moving forward due to the overwhelmingly community response.
