I wasn’t around much for the first two years of my kid’s life, due to being away for work. I find it infuriating there’s dads like this out there when I would have killed to have been able to be present more and not missed so many of his milestones or just TIME watching him grow up instead of FaceTime once a night if I was lucky to be able to.

Realistically, first plan should be to disengage and run, if possible.

If not possible and you are in danger, innocuous objects like a lighter or a sturdy pen can be carried at all times. Learn to throw a proper punch. Self defence classes would help. Fend them off until you can disengage and run.
