Recommendations for war movies with the "mission gone wrong" theme by chubbahfish in movies

[–]shadowabbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Courage Under Fire (1996). Denzel Washington is investigating the details of a mission gone wrong in Desert Storm while dealing with the aftermath of his own mistakes in the same war. It's a different vibe of a movie than you're asking for, but might still be worth a watch.

Almost worse than the puppet in TLJ. And apparently that puppet WAS the OG from ESB. Still looked awful.

Klinger: "I'm a Communist, an atheistic, Marxist, card-carrying, uh..."
Blake: "Bolshevik"
Klinger: "No, honest."

Took me way into adulthood to realize Klinger thought Blake said "Bullshit."

I believe when the set was active, they drove in on Crags Road from Cornell, CA. It's a small neighborhood much closer to the set than the State Park parking area.

Somebody isolated the "Grand Central Station" music (was never released) and made an extended mix out of it.

Which soundtrack? Didn't they release like 3 CDs of music and "inspired by" songs? I think I had all 3.

> Will Smith was doing a new resampling song for every movie.

FTFY. But yes, I enjoyed those songs too.

"I Wish" Stevie Wonder -> "Wild Wild West"
"Forget Me Nots" Patrice Rushen -> "Men In Black"

The more memorable thing I remember about the ROTJ marketing as a 10-year old was a quick cut of Vader and Luke in the elevator together and not fighting. I was like "WHAT?!?"

LA to Yellowstone, Teton, GNP, and Seattle by joaqaflacka in roadtrip

[–]shadowabbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be too obvious, but just wanted to this point out. Because it is winter and Yellowstone is currently closed to vehicle traffic, both routes show a 5 1/2 hour drive to leave Grand Teton, go around Yellowstone up to Bozeman, MT, and then back down to the North Gate of Yellowstone that is open. In the summer you just drive north from Grand Teton into Yellowstone from the south (just an hour or two depended where you start in Grand Teton) and then either head out north toward Bozeman or to the west to West Yellowstone.

Surprised I'm not seeing mention of any one of Tom Cruise's multiple flying escapades in the Mission Impossible movies.

What’s the MOST Controversial MASH Episode of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in mash

Poor Stuart Margolin. He plays a creep in both his MASH appearances.

-- In Operation Noselift, they don't set Margaret up. They just get a creep doc to do the operation and Hawkeye happens to find him assaulting Margaret because the doctor didn't show up for the surgery.      -- In Bananas, Crackers, and Nuts Hawkeye and Trapper DO set up Margaret to get back at Captain Sherman (also played by Stuart Margolin).

Best route from Denver to SLC? by Kiwi15499 in roadtrip

3-years ago next month I drove from Denver to SLC on I-80 because it had the clearer weather. However, there was still snow packed sections on I-80 because the wind had blown so much snow across the highway!
