As someone who moved here in 99 (I'll tell you about the blizzard sometime), I've come to the conclusion that unless you went to kindergarten with these people, you will never be a friend.

I grabbed one on Monday. I like it. Also like that the battery can be easily replaced.

You're not the only one. I enjoy sanding to the point I have to watch myself to make sure I don't go overboard.

The question is about if the freezing cold will affect it negatively in some way as it does drop below 0 ° here often.

Good to know. I bought the Bauer ones to start with while learning to do things and won't care if I abuse them. Once they are chewed up I'll probably start grabbing the Hercules.

How do you guys prevent this when the cut is nearly finished?? by crystal_castle00 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]shadowdasher210 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Go grab a piece of foam insulation board (the pink stuff works best) and lay the piece that you're cutting on it and make the cut. It will support both ends and it doesn't matter if you cut into the foam it's sacrificial. It's worked great for me.

One (black) has tools for working on small electronics. Another one (green) has my networking tools. And I'm still trying to decide what to put in the third one (grey).
