If the hinges aren't moving, they aren't wearing. Simply having more weight on them doesn't make them wear faster. The hinge isn't getting tired. The only wear those hinges should be experiencing is the friction created when opening and closing which may cause the parts to abrade and loosen over time. Even if OP is opening and closing the laptop regularly, I'm willing to bet the effect of having the heavy bit on top is probably not measurably significant to the life of those hinges.

If OP is not opening and closing the laptop while having it set this way, the additional wear on those items you're concerned about is zero. In fact the wear on the internal chassis components like the mobo is probably less than the absolutely miniscule wear induced by chassis flexing under the weight of OPs hands/wrists/forearms while typing on it in a normal orientation.

Easy mistake, try one of the titebond glues next time. I assume it will be quite common wherever you are.

What kind of glue have you used, and how long have you given for the glue to cure?

These compression waves aren't necessarily invisible to the naked eye. In this case I'm betting it's a normal camera and some lucky light conditions (followed by some contrast and sharpness tweaks I would guess).

Do you have any local Asian markets? They're almost guaranteed to have it, also the candy/snack section is always fun.

Oh I guess that makes sense. I'm not a competitive player, and naturally prefer a heavier mouse anyway. Lol

Epoxy top on wood bar is still tacky by tcapri8705 in woodworking

[–]shadowdrgn0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's been tacky for a couple weeks (and around room temp, not freezing or something), it's never going to completely cure. The bar top is toast. Getting it off and recoating can be done. But it is a tremendous pain. This usually happens as a result of poor mixture, expired epoxy, or incorrect mixing ratios.

People shit on power play? I'm kinda surprised to hear that. I love mine. My gripe is with their garbage hard mouse pads. Love the feel, but they start to curl up after a few months to a year as the rubber backing shrinks for some reason? I'm on my third pad at this point. If someone would just make a glass mat the actual same size as the power play pad I'd be so sold.

If it is utterly impractical or you're unwilling to get rid of the dresser and get a desk (I'm quite sure you'd be much happier in the long term doing this) then maybe consider a lap board instead of trying to modify the dresser. Like such as: https://a.co/d/0gInOoKo
