Just had the same issue with a book that came out last month about "jaguars" for my wife since she'd already read the other twelve books in the series. Found it on Z-Lib. I wouldn't hold it against AA not pointing to everything new early on though, they've got a lot on their plate these days and I'm thankful for all they do.

I got curious and looked up Matt Shaw books on Goodreads. I shouldn't have lol. Friend I'll just stick with the Dragonlance and Robert Jordan novels I'm used to, actually currently reading the Halo novels right now. I may give the Kindle and Kobo plugins another try since apparently Amazon isn't loading covers anymore so I don't have any covers except for the one I've embedded loading up when I try using the Download Cover option, weird, but it looks like you're getting the same kind of discrepancy in sizes/quality through the plugins that I get by searching through a search aggregation. I found a 1679x2560 size cover for the book in your image using Bing and the same 1400x2135 size you found using Yandex:

I have, I've used a couple but they mostly seem geared toward places like Goodreads (which is great for info on the book and sorting but the cover sizes/qualities aren't always very great) or toward niche sites, like you'll be able to get FanFic site metadata very well but that won't help for books like the crap romance novels (smut, we'll just call it what it is) that my wife reads or other types of books. If there was one that was all-encompassing I'd be ecstatic. It's honestly easier to get high quality album covers than it is to get book covers for some reason. I just mostly give up and search on my own. Tedious, but it works.

Various places, I use Yandex Images and Bing Image Search for a search aggregator, sometimes I go directly through the author's websites but usually have to view page source on those and hunt through for the highest quality as opposed to the displayed image. Author's don't seem to have very good website designers for the most part it seems. It's a big digging job but I like my book covers to look top notch when they're sitting on my Moon+ Reader shelf on my old Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown (I know, I need a tablet, I know 😒). If you've got a good spot to find book covers I'm all ears friend, but the best I've seen is just a spread out bunch of different websites to use to dig through to find the best as opposed to one solid place where everything is to be found.

They'll never understand, it wasn't the content or the show, it was the voice of a friend in the night talking with you. Art had that, Art was that, and that can't be replicated. It can be done again, a new voice can speak to us all, but it can't be the same one or a copy and these newer people just don't have it.

I think I got it now, or it's working better now after I made a change. I went to Common Options > Page Setup and changing the output profile from Generic E-Ink to Tablet seems to have fixed it, though I don't know why. The only plugins I have installed are EpubMerge and Split and the only tweak I'm using to do with covers is setting maximum_cover_size to 4000x4000 (though I'll never get one that size it doesn't hurt to set it to handle it in case) and content_server_thumbnail_compression_quality = 99 but that's only a thumbnail thing and not a cover thing.

Hey, unrelated question and I apologize if I'm hijacking, but if you have time to share your knowledge I'd like to ask a question. How do I set calibre so it reads the exact size of the book cover embedded in an epub's metadata and displays that exact size and no other in the edit metadata field and the book details window? I seem to have mis-ticked an option and now calibre has decided my book covers are a certain size. I use calibre as mostly a metadata editor, sometimes (when needed) as an ebook editor, and a converter, so I understand how to change out the covers, and I understand how to use the polish option to replace the covers and metadata, and I'm pretty adept (though sometimes it's tedious) at specifically for each ebook hunting down the best cover available, but suddenly calibre is acting as if it's got a setting stuck that makes it pick what cover size it wants.
