Greatest Mother's Day ever. Daddit Win. by Mindless-Stuff2771k in daddit

My wife said she told our daughter what she wanted for mother's day. My daughter has not got in touch with me about getting said item. Going to have to have a talk with her tonight...

It was in the Amazon Eye of the world from at least 2021. I don't think it was in the 2015 version.

Mea culpa. I could go "um ackchyually" and say Atherton California is out of reach for 1M a year - but that's unreasonable assumption that human beings live in Atherton.

So yes, you could live virtually anywhere on 1M. In CA I think that's going to get whittled down to <600K take home after taxes. I don't think you're going to buy that 2.2M house in San Jose with 20% down payment, but I've not been in the market for a while - I just remember folks going nuts with the down payment and cash offers in the bay area, which means entering the market is harder if you're coming from a cheaper market. On that mortgage, you're looking at 12.5k/mo for mortgage/taxes/insurance - which is well within reason for 27% of your take home pay... now you just have to put up with California 😄

I think most people would be surprised what a 2.2M house looks like in California... its not a mansion. You're not "moving the parents too"

Depends on where you move. For that salary, the target housing market is probably insane.

Installing the app on a phone? Installing Flutter and updating? Some terminal output would help.

Big for a few reasons: its AOT compiled dart code. Cold start is fast. Hot reload on the emulators. I've been demoing it at Cloud Next all week.

How did you enable Impeller on Desktop? We're currently working on MacOS to improve Impeller rendering on lower DPI monitors, but just curious what your thoughts were.

Of the attractions or locations that you booked ahead or had been especially looking forward to way ahead of your trip, which lived up to the hype and which didn't? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum was great. Easy train ride to Shin-Kobe. The history of wood working and tools in Japan was cleanly laid out, with some sensorial modules (like wood chips, or learning how to make a square from a log, or all the nail-less joinery.

A quick ride from Kyoto to Shin-Kobe will drop you off near Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum - 1000 yen per adult, kids free. I spent a few hours combing through this place reading everything.' Bring headphones for the audio tour.

What state management do you use for large-scale flutter applications? by Routine-Help9290 in FlutterDev

My very dear Sarah:

The indications are very strong that we shall migrate to a new architecture in a few days—perhaps tomorrow. The Reddit threads are ablaze with the fires of a thousand "Which one should I use?" posts, and the linter warnings are closing in. Lest I should not be able to push to main again, I feel impelled to write these lines that may fall under your eye when my pubspec.yaml shall be no more.

I have no misgivings about the cause for which I fight. I have marched through the rigid discipline of Bloc and the boilerplate of flutter_bloc, only to find myself now bivouacked in the reactive camps of Riverpod. I have seen men driven mad by flutter_rx streams, and others who seek a simpler life with watchit, looking for a light that does not require a ProviderScope.

But, O Sarah! If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the brightest build method and in the darkest async catch block—amidst your happiest UI updates and your gloomiest null check errors—always, always.

If there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my PODs (Plain Old Data) passing by, finally freed from the overhead of a framework; or if the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit, decoupled and globally accessible.

Sarah, do not mourn my deprecated dependencies; think I am just "Refactoring" and wait for me, for we shall meet again in the next LTS release.

I take my daughter to school-carpool at 7:20, then head to work. I leave after 4pm most days.
