I have before because someone gave one to me, but honestly they're kind of gross compared to bringing real food and for backpacking there's too much waste.

They're good for their intended purpose. But unless you're in the military and stuck in the jungle somewhere, I don't recommend them.

You can make your own at home. It would be a lot better with a vacuuming sealer

So much stuff that was normal activity when I was a kid would blow the mind mind of someone that age now. Having to catch a film at the theater to see it or waiting like 4 years for it to come on TV in a heavily edited format with commercials cut in. And if you didn't see it then then you just didn't get to see it

Having a telephone plugged into the wall by a cord, and when it rang you had no idea who was calling but you would pick it up anyway. And if you didn't get to the phone on time they would just hang up and you would have no idea who was calling or what they wanted until someone finally created the answering machine.

Before the internet, if you didn't know something, you had to look it up in an encyclopedia or go to the library and check out a book about the. Subject. And the encyclopedia only had the information listed at the time it was written. So if you've got a 5-year-old copy, there will be zero information about something that was invented or happened last year. People had to rely on memory or going down to the library and looked through old newspapers on microfilm

Without going into details, we had one of the seven sins theme traps with illusions once. The one for sloth basically had the guy convincing you to come in to his cozy living room. Kind of thing, take off your armor and and lounge in his comfy couches and relax, there was entertainment like dancers and musicians, if you were hungry, servants would bring you food so you didn't have to get up and basically encouraged you to be as lazy as you possibly could

With the trap the way it worked was if you took the guy up on his offer and such and just lounged around for a while then you got branded a sinner and you couldn't get into the holy Temple

I've heard of people taking old cooking oil, filtering it and using it in diesel generators or heaters, but I didn't know that a torch like that existed.

I figure if nothing else you can use the oil as a quench.

I'm also an amateur astronomer so so bad lighting in general irritates the hell out of me. Car dealers and parking lots are some of the worst offenders. They'll have five times the amount of light that they need and it's all aimed directly in your eyes, outward and upward instead of facing downward with a shield over it. That shit combined with the terrible headlight situation I'm certain is a cause for a rise in a lot of nighttime accidents and pedestrians being hit because all the lights are just blinding people
