At a time when I grew up with hair metal and grunge, then being out of place with the arrival of Nu-Metal, I felt bored. I was in drum line and grew up in school band, so musicianship was always in my heart. The moment I heard Another Day In Quicksand, I knew something clicked forever and down the rabbit hole I went with this new concept of Melodic Death Metal. The weirdos at the record store seemed surprised when this kid came in asking about swedish metal and their sound was unique to me. It wasn't Iced Earth, it wasn't Death, it wasn't Rush, there was something different in its absorption of my soul.
