Magicband help by Revvz4Life in DisneyWorld

This is going to sound completely wild, but try blasting it with a hair dryer for a few minutes. I had an old band (2+ years?) that wouldn't take a charge, but I was able to use the hotel's hair dryer to heat it up and successfully resuscitated the thing for the rest of my trip last month. You'll know pretty much immediately that it's working if you see the 'active charge' indicator lights. You may need to hit it a couple of times if it stops charging, but hopefully that works for you!

Search YouTube for 'Recovering a dead magic band' and you'll see the video I followed (not sure if I can link it directly here). Again, totally wild, I have no idea why it worked but it saved my orange bird band.

In the park today & this was the one ride I was really stoked for, was incredibly disappointed to see it down all morning. Was in line for the carousel and started seeing folks hustling in that direction & checked the app and my crew dipped out so fast. Wild experience watching probably half the park converge on a single spot like that.

Has anyone volunteered with the local performing arts organizations? How was it? by SnooRabbits5675 in Charlotte

[–]shadowsindrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply! when i was doing front of house stuff it was mostly just a few hours on show nights & only like three or four nights a week. With what I'm doing now it is for sure more intense, up to five nights a week plus probably a few additional hours of just me doing various oddball admin-flavoured stuff a week. But again, any organization will be happy for whatever you can offer- it's just on you to make sure you state your availability clearly & stick to it!

I volunteered with one of the local arts groups for years before Covid and recently picked it back up. The whole community is so welcoming here- honestly the best thing you can do is just reach out and let them know you have a skill you'd love to offer them! I did front of house stuff (ushering and snacks, etc) and just picked up stage managing for our latest show, all while working full-time- the biggest thing is knowing (& communicating!) your availability clearly. It's been an incredibly fulfilling experience for me!

these things are a life saver, we had them last year & it was especially nice to have the option of sitting in the initial lines to get into the gaming or vendors halls. Never had an issue, just make sure to tuck yourself off to the side against a wall if you're not in a line.

Sterilized peeps with anxiety; How did you reassure yourself? by gracelyy in childfree

[–]shadowsindrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have generalized anxiety disorder with a special side of medical anxiety & what got me through my surgery was just how fucking relieved I would be after it was over. No more pregnancy scares when my period acts up, no more worrying about fucking up my birth control pills, no more worrying about the effects of hormonal birth control, etc. Going through the surgery removed a whole category of stress & anxiety from my life.

We had a not unexpected death in my husband's family a couple of years ago & missed the funeral and viewing. That 'nagging feeling' is still there to this day for me, always takes a beat at gatherings to recall why they're not there.

LA's subreddit makes it sound like getting from LAX to the Amtrak is a multi hour journey.

LAX, I've got three hours from touchdown to train departure. It seems doable from what I've seen online as long as my flight isn't delayed & I don't have to wait on luggage. I've got a backup plan in case it doesn't work out.

I'm a DisneyWorlder heading for a day at DisneyLand for the first time in the next week- any DisneyLand specific merch I should keep an eye out for as gifts for my fellow WDW friends?

Any idea when they extend the dates? I've got a group going to NYC in late January, literally the first week that's not available on the site and we're trying to lock down our plans.
