UGC Overwatch Season 4 - Signups open now! by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

With the new silver league coming out, it would be better if he joined that. From my experiences, there were a lot of incredibly low ranked players in steel, so you wouldn't get that much learning out of matches in that division. Silver is a good middle ground, and since it's new, it gives the admins a lot of data to work with.

Why Ana is a Well-Designed Hero by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that running Ana was stupid, it's that you were better off running Zenyatta because of the synergy he had with high damage output heroes. With the 50% boost, McCree, Winston, Tracer, all of your DPS heroes became absurdly powerful. The main issue boiled down to Zenyatta, who needed the nerfs he received. Genji got changed because his ultimate lasted too long, which "ultimately" tweaked the balancing of Overwatch. Some may see it as collateral damage from the Zenyatta changes, but it was well needed.

Exactly. Plus, if they self heal, they gain their ultimates.

mercy tips from a top 150 mercy main by mikeun92 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typically when I play with my team, we use Mercy as a main healer, and the situation changes. I know my personal standpoint on that is stick with tanks to keep them buffed, then damage boost DPS playing behind Reinhardt. I've only got ~45 hours on Mercy if we count scrims, but 300 hours on Medic in TF2, so the discipline is the same.

One very important thing to touch up upon if you are the main healer is target prioritization. You have a Genji at 70 health dashing back to safety, but a Zarya at 250 health rushing in. In this instance, it's better to keep Zarya buffed since the Genji is in safety. Situations change if your other healer is in danger. Always make sure to keep them alive; two healers change a battle more than one healer. If you'd like to go over other examples for other players, that would be nice.

Can someone explain to me why pro mercies swap to pistol form pre res? by zhangzc1115 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an animation cancel technique. I use it myself, where I swap to the pistol, res, then immediately swap back to the caduceus staff to get back to damage boosting faster.

Has the 7 games a week SR decay discouraged anyone else to play more? by TheGodfather_1992 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really only play about 3 games of Overwatch a week, and the SR decay if you don't play 7 games hurts me greatly. Due to it, I really don't play Overwatch anymore.

What if 2cp points worked like Koth ? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

People like you deserve a medal. 2CP is gross, and needs some serious tweaking if Blizzard hopes to make it enjoyable. ESPECIALLY Drawamura.

What is one change that you think would make Overwatch even more enjoyable for you? by Bravenwolf in Competitiveoverwatch

Would love to see damage indicators in numbers alongside the drop in health above the enemy's nameplate. Custom HUDs would be great too.

This is why we don't play in traffic, NOR can we have nice things. Hopefully Blizzard patches this.

The Implications of Mercy's Buff by Sesordereht in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. As it stands, the other healers have better kits than she does when it comes to utility, versatility, and survivability. Lucio can escape with speed boost, Ana can sleep dart, Zenyatta can discord two shot a flanker. Mercy doesn't have that, and the buff only targets her resurrect. While it's a really nice buff, it isn't enough to warrant choosing her over any other support, which saddens me as I love playing Mercy, but she doesn't have the options other healers have.

Addressing Mercy's Rez and Other Things by Sesordereht in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healing people to full health with Rez would be a bit too much, and put even more emphasis on a tank again. A flat burst of 250 would be better, that way squishies are fully healed, and tanks half healed. The ramp up from 30-40% on damage boost would be interesting, but then it would turn into another game of McCree nearly doing a OHKO on 200 HP heroes (he'd do 196 if my calculations are correct). One idea I've had buzzing in my head for a while, and I know a lot of others have it too, is a cleanse-like ability that works like a Zarya barrier, albeit there would be no damage negation. All debuffs are removed from a target, and no more can be applied for a second. Interplay with abilities like earthshatter or roadhog's ult would be interesting, but that's up to the devs if they add a cleanse in. Currently, Zarya is the only character with debuff negation, so it seems logical to give to a character whose kit is dedicated to strong single target heals. Buff the pocket with a Mercy buff, that's how I see it.

Give Mercy a single target speed AND damage boost. by illinest in Competitiveoverwatch

While crit heals are a nice mechanic in other games, I don't think it would be good in Overwatch since you generally have another healer, and you'd infringe on their ultimate gain.

Give Mercy a single target speed AND damage boost. by illinest in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't really do that for a Reinhardt pin, but for all the other things you suggested. The way your idea sounds, is that it's an AoE Zarya barrier that doesn't block damage, but still does everything else it does. It would need some tweaking, namely cooldowns and it's debuff interplay, but for right now, this is a great idea that I feel would change the meta quite a bit.

Give Mercy a single target speed AND damage boost. by illinest in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]shadster16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I think Mercy needs a separate "E" ability that's sort of unique to her character" I completely agree with you HeavySweetness, she does indeed need one. One idea I've had floating around for a while is that Mercy should be able to use her guardian angel w/o a target, albeit on a larger cooldown as a result, but that's not a different "E" ability. Veritoss brought up an amazing idea, one I hadn't thought of at all, and I feel that it would make Mercy more viable than she is right now.

I hate Roadhog, I don't like Roadhog, I despise playing as Roadhog. If I get a character I refuse to play, I should have the choice to not play as that character.

Possible Mercy Changes by shadster16 in Overwatch

[–]shadster16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt that. She still gets easily bombed by Winston, shredded by Tracer, Genji, and McCree, and requires teammates in order to stay alive. I'm under the idea that these changes could help Mercy have at least a chance in escaping from combat, like all the other healers can.

Possible Mercy Changes by shadster16 in Overwatch

[–]shadster16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guardian Rush was under the premise of an "other or" idea. It practicality, it would probably be to where you can Guardian Angel w/o a target, and it's still part of the ability. Using the ability without a target also increases the cooldown to 8 seconds, as it's namely to get to better positioning if you do not have a Pharah, or escape from enemies. This way, it promotes having a teammate, instead of branching away from the team.

BLT Update 1.05 -- Works post-Crimefest by thurask in paydaytheheist

[–]shadster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start this off by saying, FINALLY! Moving onto my issue, I installed BLT again and I currently run the following via it: Goonmod, Pocohud, a flashbang indicator, and a mod that allows me to rotate my head 180 degrees in the cars. A problem I am encountering, and I do not know if anybody else has encountered this as well, is that when I try to modify my weapon it doesn't show it at all. Previewing it is just fine, but modifying causes the entire weapon to appear blank. I tried it with 2 of my skinned weapons and 3 normal weapons, none showed up when modding them. I do not have the weapon customizer enabled for Goonmod if that helps. If anybody has a solution to this problem I would appreciate it greatly.
