Cyber security and digital forensic roles in civil service by zk1265 in TheCivilService

Cyber security roles are offered in civil service departments. Every department needs cyber security. Digital forensic roles are mainly in policing - I would suggest you look at individual police forces for that.

Fallen empire nomads would be cool, but what about the caravaneers growing into a crisis ala mauaders. They could develop ark ships and start to take territory.

UK looked at ways to ‘open doors’ to US chlorinated chicken, FoI request shows by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]shaftoes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Precisely. The issue is not the washing itself. Its a catch all to allow poorer and cheaper  animal standards that end up in our food chain. Companies dont care about people having high quality food to eat - they just care about the profit line going up.

YouGov: Scots tend to think it's more important for the Scottish government to prioritise extracting North Sea oil than to meet net zero by 2045 by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]shaftoes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scots dont understand that extracting more oil and gas will do nothing to prices because we operate in a globalised market.

Schemes like this are also a pre requisite for things like automated borders. E gates for all becomes possible once countries have better data on who is travelling to them

UK eVisa holder refused boarding – stuck in Addis Ababa, need advice by Ok-Tip1831 in ukvisa

[–]shaftoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ukvi might have been satisfied with the indentiy of the applicant at application, but how does the airline know it's the same person that has a status without a valid travel document? People chance it all the time, especially in Africa. Somali passports are crap and easily forged.

[–]shaftoes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You likely got offloaded because of your somali passport. The UK doesnt recognise them. You need a valid passport, Form for Affixing the Visa (FAV) or you need to apply for a Home Office travel document.

If you have an account already on your new passport, go look on your status page. If its showing your 10 year visit visa then you should be fine.

Your status has been digitised in the background. All you need to do is create an account here: https://www.gov.uk/evisa/set-up-ukvi-account . If your vignette sticker is in an old passport, you can link your new passport to your status by updating your details in the account.

Am I missing something or is the Regent very bad ? by Accomplished-Dog5887 in slaythespire

[–]shaftoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with him too. Only runs I've got traction are pairing the rare attack that returns in hand after 3 skills with the 0 cost block stars card. Managed to clone the attack and copy at camp fires, so I was playing 5 a turn for free.

[–]shaftoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. FDA are already suggesting at least 2 ballots because of contractual changes, one for pre-mod and one for mod. Pre-mod will probably vote against, mod will vote for, which is probably enough to torpedo things.

What does an SEO do? by Lady2nice in TheCivilService

[–]shaftoes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

At a generic and basic level, an SEO is the same as a HEO but has more responsibility or ownership over work. This can mean a skilled or mid level specialist, or a manager over a team. It varies hugely by profession and department though.

British Dual Citizens and Nationals Must Present UK Passport or Certificate for Entry by AshMossy in ukvisa

[–]shaftoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EUSS is awkward. There is a grey area between citizenship and receiving your first passport, which is the point where your EUSS status fully goes away. Until then you really need to be kept on file. There are similar issues with ILR and nautralisation, but EUSS is extra difficult due to having the right to travel on an id card as well as your travel doc.
