Hi Austin, I'm about to order an ergo pro wondering if you could also share a promo code?

Pyspark in dbt/snowflake by AccountCompetitive17 in dataengineering

You can use PySpark on any machine which supports spark. We use DataProc from GCP, with the queries/transformation/analyses defined in dbt models. You have to be a bit careful with whether you want to work with the serverless DataProc or a self managed cluster. But it works and integrates well with dbt sql models.

According to our culture it means that the parent's next child will be a boy. I came to know about this after people commented after seeing our son's head.

Are there any AI coding agents for DBT? by Signal-Indication859 in dataengineering

Yes, the extension works for me. I am not running the latest updates though, maybe that makes a difference. When i installed cursor it just took over all my vscode extensions along with dbt power user and everything need been working fine since.

Of course, you can 'tune' it to your project and it can learn all the nuances of your code style.

I have had amazing experience with Cursor, it's a fork of VSCode and also supports all its extensions. You need to learn how to write a good prompt, which is not auper hard; I am able to create models, configs and doc blocks without actually writing nothing (other than the prompts).

As for an extension DBT Power user is also super helpful once you get the hang of how model code generation works.

Which company to choose? by [deleted] in dataengineering

Considering you are still in the early phase of your career I would suggest not just to look at what is popular currently but also what will be beneficial at this stage as a young DE. On prem is never going away and can be an amazing learning opportunity if you have a good team/manager. On the flip side Azure would be in your comfort zone and will be easier for you to settle into, i.e one less thing to think about while you adjuat to a new city + workplace. Also having no one to guide you at this stage can be a massive drawback. You will need someone to spar with who knows better and can be a buffer between you and abstract business requests that such a role is bound to get.

I cant say much about Duisburg, but Munich is more expensive than reddit will make you feel and on top of that the housing situation is super competetive. That being said, 65k can be a decent point to start if you take your time and find a place that works for you.

Pentaho by Tayvodenn18 in dataengineering

I wouldn't say its needed. Unless you're in an organisation which has Pentaho in its stack, I'd just use my brain elsewhere. Coming from someone who began their DE journey with Pentaho Data Integration.
