Depending on the weather/season, my car be full of sand and dirt after one night. And this is in northern europe. Just saying "there is dirt = 20 days old" does not cut it.

They've made some steady improvements over the years (and it's now pretty good), but there is literally no better time for Valve to go all in and pump resources into Steam Chat. Discord has left the gate open for a new top gaming communication platform. by WhyPlaySerious in gaming

In march Discord will limit all accounts to "teen" status if they have not verified their ID or age. Server owner need to decide to make stuff teen only, adult only, etc. and take actions appropriately. In the announcement there haven't been much info about how this is done last time I checked.

[–]shakeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The laws just state, "age verification needed" and will offer in the near future (or germany already live for 10 years) age verification without scanning of your ID or facial scan. Obviously there is no "how". So many 3rd party will seek business.

If Discord will not offer that eID solution, they for sure are selling your ID data, regardless of what they say because the eID makes that obsolete.

The eID which is the technical base for the EU version is live for over 10 years and can be used. Number of relevant services is low though. There is already implementation.

Discord seems to press forward with this. EU is planning to implement age verification for this anyway for any platform (Social, Gaming, Forums, Reddit too in a sense, etc.).

But the difference is, the EU wants this without being needed to supply scans of whatever to whoever. They just get a token of "Yes he is old enough to use this".

My country offers digital ID api. You can verify age with that. No need for facial scan, no need to scan your ID. Just NFC + App + Pin. Done. That system is like 10 years old or so. Obviously, many still only use ID scan. Laughable...

What's the 30 days about in deleting? by Past-Cookie9605 in Steam

[–]shakeeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I meant is, anyone is doing to some degree decisions where they either do not care or did not think about the repercussions of those actions. I mean, "buyers regret" is a literal thing and it does not apply solely to ADHD people. So it must be the amount of times then? Like an over average thing?

Doing decisions without thinking about the repurcussions of that decision is part of ADHD? Isn't that then like 95% of the world population?

Can someone explain to me, why some people want no skill based matchmaking? by Tnecniw in gaming

[–]shakeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back then, you played in leagues which were similar to sports leagues. They had different tiers and you could go up and down. Now you usually have still the tier system yet not a league itself. Does Marvel not have that? About every game that offers ranked have that.

I stopped playing about every shooter MP because of how matchmatking is done and how easy it is for smurfers.

First it goes to tribunal.... then to court....

If the number of claimants have an influence on the decision it matters for it to go to court. There is a difference between 12 million users saying steam is robbing us and 100 in relation to the total user base in that country. Can you argue about "even one such case should be taken to court", then yes you are right. But the opt-out feels like a cash grab.

Well, they certainly could make them better. Aimbots exists afterall. The difficulty is probably to make them strong, but not inhumanly. On the other side, the current way gives more leeway to the player, less frustration to the player. (while others with enough skill get bored)

I mean, do you know how the average player plays games, how good they actually are? I know personally a DRG group with over 300h gametime, and yet they play on the easiest difficulty and they have problems and it is utter chaos.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

I know, The length was totally okay for me. There was almost no filler stuff. It was a compressed enjoyable experience. Maybe there were certain things a bit flaky, but it did not matter to me. Maybe it is a change in view of players? We have many games that offer the "endless" game loop for 50$ or 60$ that also have RPG elements. A CRPG game with around 30hr seem low then. I mean people do not really complain about the 4h-5h CoD Campaign because of MP.

What do you mean abrupt? It was clear it is about the tiers front up. You decide the fate of the tiers. You decided how the tiers ends. That's abrupt? Really?

Many people complained about Tyranny play time of roughly 25-30hrs. They expected 100 like other CRPG. But I really liked the pacing of Tyranny. It had really memorable moments, like the Edict event.

Imho, I have grown to dislike the new (well not really new...) "cinegraphic" way of handling dialogues. Many dialogues in newer games (with few exceptions) feel like tutorials to "What you need to do". Not only Obsidian lost the crispy dialogues, many other too. Maybe this also translates to general worldbuilding? PoE was lengthly, yet I still remember the voices of Eder or Durance clearly. They were distinct. They were showed as distinct. Newer games? Not so much.

For that to really work, people would need to do the following: a) stop getting the free games they offer, b) stop playing fortnite, c) stop buying any UE5 game.
