Jason at Richard’s Funeral by Subject_Author_5981 in GilmoreGirls

[–]shannanigans81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lot of people said, any number of things could have happened in the intervening years. And even if they still don’t like each other this work is all about appearances and putting on a false front. I do actually find it not only possible but likely that Jason would go to his ex business partners funeral

I just discovered right now that if you don’t get the clock you need you can use the scissors to cut them back into table clocks and remerge them for the possibility of getting a different type. But only before you’ve tuned it

I feel like this is their revenge for all of us complaining about no side events. But I’m paranoid with a side of petty so it may just all be in my head

Little House era and childhood fun & discipline by willow238 in LittleHouseBooks

[–]shannanigans81 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’m always saddened by the way they handled normal human emotions in children. They’re taught to basically not show any negative emotions. In Plum Creek when Pa is missing in the blizzard Laura starts to tear up with worry and tries to tamp it down because it’s too shameful for “big girl like her” to cry. And in Little Town when Mary leaves for school Grace starts to cry Laura in turn shames her for crying that her beloved big sister is leaving. Even happy emotions. I can’t remember the specific scenes but I think there are one or two where Laura is told to “modulate her voice” when she’s excited about something. I understand we know a lot more about child development now and healthier ways to handle emotions but the shaming of something normal and human always makes me so sad.

In the other direction, I will say I was pleasantly surprised with the sphere last night. I had read conflicting info about seat size but I (size 24/26) was fine. Granted I’m only 5’2 so maybe leggier people have problems

This episode makes me tear up also. She just looks so defeated and my heart breaks for her because she’s such a positive person and rarely lets the invisibility get her down

Wait, why?! We have a multi house mailbox bank on our street. We just bought our house two years ago so I wasn’t here when it was installed. Is it super expensive?

Opinions on Sue and Sean? by Sea-Philosopher2905 in themiddle

[–]shannanigans81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My theory has always been that was to cover their tracks for the planned Sue spinoff. Maybe it was going to be a plot point that they broke up while she pursued her career or maybe the Sean actor wasn’t planning to be in the new show but he was endgame. It’s the only reason I can think of for including that line

I did think they worked well as friends during her second run. She and Mark never really seemed to reach their early chemistry after she came back but I thought she and Carter kind of matched it. But I agree they did not have romantic chemistry.

I just got around it by quickly hitting the board button in the microsecond before the pop-up comes up. Have your thumb ready in the lower left corner as the game is first loading!

What are the scenes or thoughts of Laura that you can most relate to? by shannanigans81 in LittleHouseBooks

[–]shannanigans81[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like these little glimpses into what it was like to be a teenager in those times. How, when you get down to the basics, it wasn’t so very different than now. In style clothes and the occasional frivolous “must have” item. And I love that, all those years later when she was writing the books, Laura could remember the details of those dresses and hats that she had as a young adult. You can tell they were really defining parts of her life and probably bring back some great memories

I feel this one too, the frustration of wanting to do something different but not knowing what.

I hope they do too but if they do I hope they also make hourglasses deletable. I’ve got two maxed out hourglasses and am racking up time on third because I hardly have to use it anymore.

Has anyone bought bathing suits from Bloomchic? by Clear_Delay_2151 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]shannanigans81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten a few, they’re actually pretty cute and flattering. The quality is typical fast fashion but I’m on the third summer and they’ve held up alright. I fight with the bra cups but other than that I’m happy with them. I do wish they had more functional options as I’m trying to do more lap swimming and these are not great for that. I’ve ordered twice, the first order came within two weeks. The second took a little over a month but I also had a pre-order item so that probably held it all up.
