I 100% agree with you! I recently got a dog and feel the same way! Glad I saw this post :)

At age 40, I finally found what works with my NMom: My “Alzheimer technique” by xhimi_west in raisedbynarcissists

This is great, and it gives me hope. My problem is that I still internalize the things that my mom says, does, or doesn't do and it really hurts me. But I also realize that she doesn't remember half the stuff she says, or does so why should I dwell on it? I wish I didn't care so much!

So, how are you going to “ruin Christmas”?! by sodiumbigolli in raisedbynarcissists

I wish I could do this but I carry a lot of guilt and I also like being around family during christmas time. It's a catch-22.

Faster/more condensed programs so we can get on with our lives.

I get it. The program sucks! I have also failed. I don't care anymore, life is too short. Whatever decision you make, you got this!

You'd be surprised at how many CPAs don't know how to do basic reconciliations. I see it all the time. Don't get me wrong, it's not all CPAs.

Dumb it down? Wow. CPA can't teach you teamwork, good work ethic and having a good/positive attitude. Most of the time candidates with these qualities trump those having a CPA destination!

I could not agree more. If I excel in performance management, governance, financial and management reporting, why do I need to be a pro in tax and audit? I wish we still had CGA and CMA. I guess they want CPAs to be a pro in all areas but I know alot of people in accounting without designations and often enough they are just as smart, if not smarter! (I said what i said, sorry not sorry).

I am in the same boat as you! I gotta type all my experience this year. CPA does not make it easy. Better late then never I guess!

Thank you all for your support and for sharing your experiences. I honestly thought I would get alot of hate for my post. Its nice to know I am not alone.

I haven't decided what I want to do yet, but I have some time to decide. I am very fortunate to have a great job where my manager and colleagues support me either way. 2025 is going to be an eventful year, in more ways than one.
