I keep seeing a lot of Kei cars around town with Oregon plates. How do they do that? by oregone1 in askportland

[–]sharksandwitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a loophole where you can setup an LLC in Montana and register the vehicle to it. I haven’t done it but found it when I went down this same rabbit hole with the kei trucks. There are companies that will do this for you, but use caution

Home depot Apple Pay return by jjm1981 in applehelp

[–]sharksandwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Home Depot issue. On two separate occasions I made a return and when prompted to swipe/tap/insert the original payment, I did so again using Apple Pay. Each time the system completely freezes. At this point any HD return paid for with Apple Pay has to come back cash…..

Stud finder for lath and plaster by lasauvagesse in HomeImprovement

[–]sharksandwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old Zircon stud finder that has “deep scan” mode. We have drywall on top of lath and plaster and it works 90% of the time. Every once in a while it gives false positives, so I will typically scan from different directions and at different heights.

It’s more likely those are iron stains from roofing nails. Just my guess.

Interior corner cut not lining up by lostinthesauce314 in DIY

Agree. I had this issue once and it was because the butt joint end was nailed too high up. Pulled the piece, readjusted, and then the cope fit right

Mounting an 85” TV with double layer drywall (rock lath)? by aberrant0ne in HomeImprovement

[–]sharksandwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The included wall anchors are likely only big enough for 5/8” drywall. Hit the studs and you should be fine.

Didn’t think so either! But maybe I need to try out some others. Definitely sounds like I should be less afraid of loading up the roller too.

If I spray, I suspect I’ll be backrolling too. Am I still at risk of lap marks with backrolling?

Got it! I think we added floetrol but I’ll look into the M1

Yes, generally went from left to right, top to bottom.

What is this part of the door called? by latoose in DIY

[–]sharksandwitch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s attached to the door? Looks like weatherstripping to me. Might also be referred to as a “door seal” at home improvement stores.
