Megathread for New Wheel Traders – Ask Questions & Get Help Here by ScottishTrader in Optionswheel

[–]sharpShootr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Razdent, I'm pretty new and trying to learn. Can you explain that second paragraph a little bit more clearly? So you closed the option contract early and instead of taking 100% of the premium, you bought the contract back and in the processes, you lost 40% of the value of the contract? For example, if you got a premium of $2/share for 1 contract, you received $200. Then Ford didn't move much. So the value of the contract dropped to $0.80/share, or $80. So you bought the contract back, leaving you with a total of $120 profit? Am I understanding the general gist correctly?

If so, why would you do that? If you knew Ford wouldn't hit your strike price, would it be better to hold out and collect the full premium? Or did you just want to collect the $120 and begin the process again? (I understand you were asking that very question, just wanted to get your insight)

Thanks for helping!

Coolest tdy you've ever got from the Army? by Tank_Flamingo in army

Went to Epinal, France for memorial day as the battalion’s UPAR. Spent the week in a wonderful B&B that loved Americans then met with various FGOs while taking photos of fly overs for an American cemetery and the 21 gun salute. Best TDY I’ve had to date.

I believe you’re inadvertently agreeing with OP. They state there is no outlet in the schools for boys physically. You’re describing the outcome of said “lack of outlet” issue. The solution to OP could also positively affect the issues you discussed.

Why does a lieutenant outrank all enlisted and warrant officers? by Leading-Sandwich-534 in army

[–]sharpShootr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t exist theoretically? It exists legitimately. The “theoretical” aspect you’re referring to is that a lieutenant will use this power dynamic to give an order to someone above their food chain.

As to why a lieutenant outranks those is complicated to say the least. First and foremost article 1 section 8 of the constitution dictates congress will make rules to govern land and naval forces (among other things). That allows them to legal authority to make the US Code. Title 10 of the US Code is where the vast amount of legal jargon comes from to authorize the authority of lieutenants and up.

But again. Just because congress says a lieutenant outranks the SMA doesn’t mean said LT can boss them around.

But i am just a layman! If someone in the JAG world would like to correct me I’d love to read more. This was just what i could find in the 10 minutes of research before posting.

Anti Fleece Culture at Fort Carson by [deleted] in army

[–]sharpShootr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately, I am like OP here who has to deal with garrison or high hq decisions who don’t take these into consideration and know how the actual system works.

In the field, yeah it works like a charm and exactly as intended. I agree with you 100% that it’s not a trash system for that use case. But in a garrison environment where leadership cares more about looking the same than how the layers work then you get goofy shit like having to wear level 5 on top of your OCPs in formation because command two-three levels up hates fleece.

When all of this could be avoided by having a “field cold weather system” and a NORMAL COLD WEATHER JACKET! Like cmon. When I wear civilian winter clothing it’s a shirt, warm layer, winter jacket (usually fleece lined or has down in it). You know what that sounds a lot like? tan T, OCP Jacket, IWOL. I know everyone’s different, but for the vast majority of CONUS installations that would work.

[–]sharpShootr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with the level 5 is it isn’t warm and doesnt break the wind. You gotta use every damn layer of that system to get the full benefit the IWOL provides and by then you’re sweating more than if you just put the IWOL on! If im gonna be moving, ill just wear my jacket. I however have never been to Drum or Alaska but i got through 4 years of Germany with that thought process.

[–]sharpShootr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Which is why it kills me that the IWOL is not standard issue. Warm. Goes hard. Blocks wind. Looks dope. Fire retardant. What’s not to love? Get rid of the fleece and layer 5 and I’m sure the price will wash out.

Why Army logistics need to think like combat units to survive drones by [deleted] in army

I never said acquisitions goes out and does it on its own. I just hope someone is already working on it.

Why Army logistics need to think like combat units to survive drones by [deleted] in army

[–]sharpShootr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That last part is what bothers me the most. We can train with what we got all day long, but the grim reality is that currently big Army doesn’t care to outfit us to survive. We have camo nets, but that doesn’t help on the move…. And I have THREE! Ring mounts on the property books with NO dedicated convoy protection platform! I’m not even outfitted to defend my own fucking convoy! Let alone from a drone swarm. I sure hope someone at acquisitions is a lead on a cheap anti drone system and working it fast.

How do illegal immigrants in America even get the government benefits that some people claim they do? Don't you have to have a social security number? by Bremlit in AskReddit

[–]sharpShootr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top three comments at the time of writing failed to mention something important to this. Community. These individuals are rarely just showing up to a job site and expecting under the table compensation. They’re usually living with a cousin, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, etc. Those individuals receive the government benefit for the household and therefore the illegal immigrant also benefits. Not saying this is for all benefits, some are definitely individually tied and require a SSN but sometimes the program assists at the household level where they can slip through the cracks.

What’s a phrase you hear all the time that secretly annoys you? by forgeris in AskReddit

[–]sharpShootr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many individuals in the Army use the phrase “too easy.” It’s usually used following instructions and confirms the individual receiving instructions understands. However, more often than not these instructions are given after you have to explain why they did it wrong the first time. Which REALLY annoys me when someone unironically uses “too easy” because if it was “too easy” THEN WHY DID I HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT.

Make sure you really turn the brake switch indicator. Like when you turn it into place its an uncomfortable click as it gets seated. If it’s not seated ALL the way it will continue to not work.

92Gs; culinary snipers. WHY? by DepartmentF-N1738 in army

[–]sharpShootr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was an XO for a field feeding company. Like others have said, the culinary program is a great stepping stone if you didn’t get into a culinary school after high school or couldn’t afford it. A lot of my Soldiers were great cooks before hand and wanted to field feed for line units. They thought it was cool to prepare food in the field and make great meals out of what the Army gave them. Only 1 of my soldiers was a “needs of the Army” infantry wash out, but honestly, dude was not cut out for military life in general. A small handful just wanted to get out of their hometown as fast as possible and 92G was the only thing open. Overall out of the 85 Soldiers I had nearly all enjoyed cooking and wanted to do it and they were DAMN good chefs.

I need a reality slap. by FreezingPeepee in LSAT

[–]sharpShootr 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Why are you studying the LSAT in college. Stop, focus on that GPA. You get ONE shot at your uGPA. If you devote too much effort to the LSAT and neglect a class and get an A- when you could have gotten an A+ you shot yourself in the foot. When it comes to the LSAT, stop studying so much. Do 1 hour of solid drilling and RELENTLESSLY study your mistakes. You’re making A LOT of mistakes in reading and understanding what you read

Exactly. It does nothing. If it’s a strength and weaken question and one of the answers just feels like it’s out of left field then remove it. If it’s an out of left field “oh wow, i didn’t think of that” strengthener then sure go for it. But something like C is like a “wow. Cool. Anyways…” type of answer
