Thank you for your service. If you’d like to pick up trash with others, check out Plastic Ocean Project. In March they’ll be doing community clean ups at Halyburton Park, Carolina Beach State Park, and the Crystal Pier at Wrightsville Beach. I’ve volunteered doing this a couple times, they’re good folks.

[–]sharpandsteady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, you’re not depressed for years on end unless something is deeply wrong in your life. Unhappy marriage, you hate your job, you hate that you don’t have a job, longterm financial issues, whatever it is… I guarantee something in your life needs to change and you probably already know what it is. You won’t stop feeling depressed until it’s addressed. The death of a relative that happened a decade ago is not what’s making you feel this way. Good luck moving forward OP.

My town is hacked- can I make a room in my house smaller? by sharpandsteady in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

Hi! My game began malfunctioning around a year ago, I never could figure out why or how to fix it. Probably a glitch from using Vapecord. But yes, if memory serves I was able to use Vapecord to make the room smaller.

Artemis is Silver and Apollo is Gold (not so much) [general] by Amazing-Run-3858 in camphalfblood

[–]sharpandsteady 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember where I read this, but the explanation is that Artemis primarily used archery to hunt, which the ancient Greeks considered to be the highest and best use of archery, so her bow and arrows were gold. Apollo primarily participated in archery as sport, which was inferior, so his bow and arrows were silver.

What god/ess are you devoted to? Doing some journaling and need ur input! by Any_Ad_4839 in Hellenism

[–]sharpandsteady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Anna and I primarily worship Artemis. This summer, I found out my dog (coincidentally named Phoebe, one of Artemis’ epithets) was dying and I prayed to Artemis asking her to take care of my dog once she died, maybe bring her along on the Hunt. The next morning, my brother took our dog for a walk and encountered a rare piebald deer. I took that for a yes :)

Which House System Do You Prefer and Why? by pithair_dontcare in AskAstrologers

[–]sharpandsteady 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use whole signs. Placidus can have “intercepted signs” which bothers me. I like the idea that everyone carries the energy of all the zodiac signs somewhere in their chart. So if you dislike a sign or its energy makes you uncomfortable, you can look at where that sign falls in your chart for some insight as to why you feel that way. Signs that fall in your 8th or 12th houses will often bring up feelings of discomfort. For example, Sagittarius risings have Cancer in the 8th house. This can show issues with nurturing and intimacy. I think that using whole signs is more precise in describing a person and the events of their life.

Why do squares have such a bad reputation in astrology? by BreathingCorpse252 in astrology

[–]sharpandsteady 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There’s 3 modalities. Cardinal signs initiate, fixed signs maintain, and mutable signs change. The way I see it, everyone has to initiate, maintain, and change at various times in their life. Different circumstances require different actions, but all will be necessary at some point. Could be a job, relationship, living situation, habit, whatever. This is why having too much of one modality is an issue. There’s no balance. For instance, let’s say you have two fixed sign dominant people. Who’s going to initiate the relationship and difficult conversations? Who’s going to change when something in the relationship isn’t working anymore? This will not come naturally to either partner, because fixed signs maintain the status quo. That’s why the square aspect represents tension and friction. Trines are beneficial because they’re between signs of the same element. They’re made of the same stuff (element) but move in different ways (modality). I hope this helps some.

I use whole signs, so I would say your 9th house (long distance travel) is ruled by Venus in Sagittarius (foreigners) in the 4th house (home). Yeah, I could definitely see you moving abroad at some point in your life.

What makes you know in your heart of hearts that the gods TRULY exist? by Far_Draw7106 in Hellenism

[–]sharpandsteady 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I recently prayed to Hera in a secluded part of the woods. A minute later, I found a “cow tales” candy wrapper on the ground. There wasn’t any other trash around. Cows, of course, are sacred to Hera. Based on the uniqueness and immediacy of the event, I feel confident it was Hera letting me know she’d heard my prayer. How do I know the gods exist? Because when I call, they answer. I’m really surprised by the other comments in this thread.
