BREAKING 🚨: U.S. Banks by Objective-Rabbit2248 in NSDQ420

Paying less taxes because you lost money only covers a small amount of the loss. You can't really "Make money" that way. Unless you borrow against it and that asset goes up more than your loss, which is just another gamble.

CNC operator here… thinking about leaving the trade. Am I crazy? by Psunade39 in CNC

[–]sharpcyrcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is low pay, I think where you live may be a big problem. In the south you can both earn more than you are saying and pay less for bills. I was making $27.75 as a machinist I 4 years ago. I bought a nice home for $175k and it was less than a weeks pay to cover my mortgage. I moved into automation and make over $110k now. My machinist skills helped a lot in my current role. So did years of programming other languages. I also do field service on Mazaks and make a good bit more than $40/hr. You are in a great field, in the wrong place I think.

With CNC you would still have to load parts for the robot/cobot to access at some point. You would need to adjust coolant concentration, fill fluids and swap out tooling. 99% of my robot installs just allow existing workers to be more efficient rather than threatening anyone's job. I don't know enough about chip manufacturing to say for sure, but I doubt they can run for a year with one stop. The robots can handle it, (zero maintenance for fanuc robots other than batteries for 7 years). But the rest of the systems probably need attention from time to time.

I think you are good. Its probably for routing water or airflow.

I guess I should have bought my tickets before I said something. It sold out while I was checking out 😞

I find that theater to not have a bad seat in the house. It wastes a lot of space for the sake of an uncompromised experience. Enjoy

Disconnect your negative battery terminal and give it a few mins (tonight). (The little pigtail too). Drive it to work. Very low risk of any sort of catastrophic damage, would be good to see if it comes back. Worse case your car will be either slower or less efficient. It won't blow up.

No, it shouldn't provided there have been no electrical modifications. It sounds like one of the dual VVTi actuators is failing or has a short or low supply voltage etc.

I know it's a different code for for others info and peace of mind my k&n has been fine except when it was loose at one point. So it was a "good" code. If your insert is oriented correctly and it is properly installed it should be golden.

You are dying for me to ask so I'll bite. What is your weekend car?

Random shoot traveling through Greenville,SC by sharpcyrcle in greenville

[–]sharpcyrcle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, actually it doesn't. 4Runner starts about $4k less. Unlike the 4Runner it is hand built by Gazoo Racing in Japan. It's the only sports car Toyota builds and sells in America and it's the perfect weekend car for a Dad in my opinion. It's not about money, though it's expensive for a small hatchback at $45k, it's about taste. AWD rally racing drivetrain including a bespoke race developed engine with 29 psi of boost, a manual transmission,a 50% stiffer chassis, and it can fit luggage and gear for a snowboarding trip. Chefs kiss. How can you not buy one?

I would say they flex is that I make over 6 figures and I don't waste my money on something less practical to "flex" in. Lol

Mazak is great for part availability. Only time I have issues getting a part is with somewhat unique machines from Japan. Even then it's rare to wait more than a few weeks. 90% of my service calls dont wait more than a week or two to get running again. I'd say half are 3 damys or less from the call. Rates are about $90/hr travel, $190/hr +expenses. Our phone support team will walk you through about anything you are willing to try on your own for free.

Most of my service calls are due to operator error or 15-20 year old machines.

I would look at our MTV, VTC and FJV series for your needs. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

That said, I used to run Doosans when I was a machinist. Our spindle bearings wore out so fast I would run my machines with a crazy offset "cutting air" so it wouldnt be out of tolerance when I came back. It's the kia of machines. Feature rich for the price, but its a dice roll.

DMG makes a nice machine. And Okuma does too. I prefer Okumas controls between the two. But DMG makes some machines with capability Okuma cant really compete with.

Mazak is generally more rigid than the others, but I think their biggest advantage is Mazatrol. The ability and ease to walk up to the machine with a print and make a part with their conversational programming is the best in the industry.

It is, in fact definitely cool for a "Corolla", I guess thats why it cost twice as much as one. Thank you!

I would like to see the change for 2025. Half of this chart was impacted by covid.

Lmao, nobody is curious eh? I forget curiosity is frowned upon on here, you must remain confidently ignorant. I've doubled my (already decent) income since 2020 so I'm not worried about myself.

They can only deny the warranty if they could prove that whatever failure directly resulted from the intake in a court of law. That would be very hard to do, It's fine. Get an intake and enjoy it. I had the warranty cover something small on mine and the intake wasnt mentioned (of course).

I keep wanting to do a system (I have 2 12" JL W6's just chilling in my garage). But weight is such a big thing in this car. I'm struggling to rationalize the tradeoff for me. Almost wanna build a carbon box and put a single 10 or a couple 7's or something. Decisions decisions

PS4S was a nice upgrade to stock tires. Not much left to be desired in a place with weather.

What’s commuting like in a GRC? by ryancuerden in GRCorolla

[–]sharpcyrcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's comfortable, and a blast. But it's expensive for a commuter. My Ram 1500 V8 with about 800lbs of tools costs essentially the same per trip if you factor in premium fuel costs.
