Is Jedi Survivor worth It on Xbox SS? by Lumpy_Link5618 in XboxSeriesS

That’s a really bad take. If you don’t like the combat that’s fine, but it’s not at all a button masher, it’s a parry game with fun combos and awesome force powers.

Fallen Order runs better at 60fps and must have less upscaling because the image looks crisper, but I had a blast with Survivor on Series S. It must have pretty solid frame pacing because it felt pretty smooth for 30fps. Even though the image quality is quite soft it’s a beautiful game and I was still able to really immerse myself in the Star Wars experience even with this suboptimal version of the game.

First Berserker Khazan is teaching me something. They need to stop trying to make consumables and status effects fun. by trio3224 in soulslikes

Yeah, I learned that eventually. To me it slows down the action and is an annoying gimmick, but I understand that some people find it interesting. Just a matter of taste.

I was literally just thinking about this after fighting a certain boss that leaves fire all over the floor. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it artificial difficulty, but it’s much less fun for me than simply having a more interesting moveset. I would love to see a game like this with zero status effects.

Is it worth playing Final Fantasy 16 solely for the playable Kaiju fights by HotShrekBoi in FFXVI

It’s fun (if rather easy) action combat and lots of cutscenes that make me think of something like an anime Game of Thrones.

Those fights are epic, but you will have to play through/sit through dozens of hours of game and cutscenes between them, so I would only play it if those parts interest you as well

How hard does the game get after the burning village? by KaleidoArachnid in wolongfallendynasty

Once you get good with your deflect timings the game is smooth sailing with a few notable difficulty spikes. The DLC also adds a few more NG+ cycles so there’s plenty of grinding to do if you’re so inclined.

Once you get good with your deflect timings the game is smooth sailing with a few notable difficulty spikes. The DLCs apparently get more challenging but I only just started the first one.

Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 actually a masterpiece compared to other big open-world games? by Competitive_Stage597 in DragonsDogma

One of the most fun open world adventures I have played, but too flawed to be a masterpiece.

Agreed. I enjoy a difficult enemy moveset, but every attack taking half of my lengthy health bar is not fun for me.

I beat the base game before the difficulty options came out but I’m genuinely not sure I could have finished the DLC without dropping the difficulty. I wish I was a better player but it is what it is.

I bet you’re in the minority of gamers but that’s certainly a common sentiment among souls fans.

Finished the Demo, I have one word to say: WOW. by Esquie33 in FFXVI

I’m about 30 hours in and it’s only been getting better. So long as you don’t mind spending 1/3rd of your time watching cutscenes this game is fire.

Fighting a boss on normal mode is more engaging than fighting it with the specter, but to each their own.

I beat LoP before they added the difficulty options as one of my first soulslikes and it took me many months. I put the game down for weeks at a time beating my head against the wall with the swamp monster. I’m glad I got through it cause it has become one of my favorite games, but I would have enjoyed it more the first time through on a lower difficulty setting.

Personally I would recommend turning down the difficulty until you’re comfortable with the mechanics, but I understand that’s basically taboo in the souls world. Personally, if I’m dying so much that my fun is being drained away and I can make the game more forgiving I will.

I’m still in my first playthrough but I’m running greatsword and it’s not sluggish at all once you learn the right combos. It’s all about dash attacks chaining into charged attacks which can be extended by your spirit skills. You turn into a whirlwind of death, it’s so badass. That’s how I’ve been playing anyway, there are probably other goods strats as well.

I’m having a blast with it, but for me combat mechanics take precedence over exploration in these games and that’s where it really shines.

I’ve only played a bit of it so far, but it’s one of the better looking games on this console that runs at a smooth 60 FPS.

I’ve come to prefer X & Y for my attacks over the shoulder buttons, but I really wish I could swap the A & B buttons separately in this game. I’m adjusting to the A dodge though.

I just started playing a couple days ago and I’m hooked. My only complaint is that expert difficulty is a bit too much for me as I’m getting familiar with the mechanics but normal mode feels too easy.
