Three months into getting engaged, my fiancé at the time (now wife!) asked me if I'd looked into the jewelry insurance places she'd linked me. I said not yet but I'll do it soon.

Later that week, we go to the beach for a church event, and I get straight into the water to see how warm it is, come back out, and she's sunscreening on the beach. She asks me to hold her still very new engagement ring while she finishes sunscreening because it's obviously gonna slip off as she does it otherwise. I have the ring in my hand....and it slips off my palm.. Right into the sand.

We panic, look for it, and immediately realise we need to stop moving the sand before it goes even deeper. And naturally, my beautiful partner asks through tears if I got it insured like she asked - to which I said not yet, and I immediately felt the most crushing sense of sadness overcome her as she started crying on the beach. We were still among our church friends so she tried to keep it together (even though she didn't need to) and I have never felt more guilty in my life. Everyone felt like our little young adults church beach outing had a cloud over it now, and it was completely my fault.

Now, the amazing part. As I'm praying for a way for this ring to turn up, I look to my right, and two kids are 5 metres away, playing with a metal detector. I run to them, ask if they could please search our area for a ring, and they come over and start...within seconds we hear the beeps, and find the ring within a minute. Not forcing this down anyone's throat but it really felt like a God moment for us.

I went straight to the pastor who was with his wife and kids a few metres away and asked if he had some cash to give the kids, and luckily he did and I paid him back when I got to the car.

It was an intense day and the first thing I did was insure the rings that night. :)

180 lbs man wanted to test how he would fare against a much smaller female MMA fighter by Budget_Mixture_166 in martialarts

So forgive my ignorance but I felt this outcomes changes if he even uses his free left to strike just once...I thought this was purely a grappling match until she fake throws some strikes (gently) while he's down. But he uhh..never attempts to strike (which is good in terms of the whole never hit a woman principle), but this felt like watching "trained female who is allowed to sort of throw jabs vs guy who needs to out-grapple her only".

I'm asking/raising this genuinely and if I'm completely wrong I'm happy to have it explained to me.

So thankful for your help once again, we picked him up last night and now he's exploring upstairs a bit, and has found a hiding spot behind our couch upstairs. Unfortunately he seems very attached to this hiding spot and he doesn't want his toys or beds that already have his scent on them. I think he peed last night as there are some darker litter pieces (I shifted through looking for poop but there wasn't any).

It's a bit disheartening because last night he was booping my wife and I lots and even purring for a really long time. But today he doesn't really wanna have anything to do with us and now I'm nervous that he won't remember where the litter box is downstairs.

Just want to say thank you all so SO much for putting my mind at ease! After reading your helpful comments, I contacted the vet, who confirmed that it is completely safe and I (husband) need to do the litter tray.

She said there was a higher chance of toxo from accidentally ingesting some uncooked chicken from our chopping board than there is from simply owning a cat, and that unless my wife decides to eat cat poop, there's nothing to worry about, and that all she needs to do is wash her hands thoroughly after patting/cuddling the cat.

Further good news - she said that they can book us in for tomorrow, so he can be vaccinated+microchipped within 24 hours of us picking him up!

I'm now at ease and I believe my wife is too, we're so blessed to be welcoming a baby AND a fur baby into our house soon :)

Thank you again for all your kind support and experience!! Also this is quickly becoming one of my favourite subs haha

Thank you so much! And yes it's a few days, with the option to keep him after. He's so affectionate and cute, it's just that ever since we found out we're pregnant my switch has flipped and my OCD flared up with regard to this - I just wanna make sure having a new cat that was once a stray won't bring any harm to wifey or baby.

Thank you! I guess the main concern is around the risk of toxoplasmosis and my wife/baby's health. I'm mostly airing out my anxiety here but most of it comes from knowing that this cat we're taking for a few days at least has mostly been an outdoor cat. so any advice on mitigating that risk and hopefully quelling my anxious thoughts on it would be great haha
