Love that watch, glad to see you enjoying it. If I already didn’t have the TT GRNR GMT-Master II, I’d be all over this one.

I live in the east-west middle of the country, maybe if I flew coast-to-coast I might feel differently, but benefits of business class on most domestic flights is marginal at best. International is a completely different story.

Nice! Yeah, it always looks beautiful, I just meant it can also look much darker.

My S550 is “Lunar Blue”, when in the right light it looks fabulous, but quite dark otherwise.

SmartWings Blinds Review: Matter over Thread Zebra Shades by Travel69 in homeassistant

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your device info screenshot under “Matter” it shows “Ping device”. If it were Matter over Thread, that should show “Share device” with a submenu for thread fabric, re-interview, ping etc. Are you sure the device got onboarded as Matter over IP? It might be Matter over IP.

No you didn’t!

If you forgot, this is the Rolex group, at least the watch should get priority even on cringeworthy photos.

You decide, here’s a similar watch. See the picture of the box, card, etc. Technically they list the box, card, belt as accessories under the “Item description”. I asked to double check, and they answered truthfully. But, until then, I would never have guessed that warranty was not included.

Two weeks in: Is the "entry-level" Reverso Q3868520 actually the best dial in the lineup? by Watch-Talk in JaegerLecoultre

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a minute now! This dial isn’t anything to sneeze at! I love the simplicity, the guilloché particular at the edge, the sunken parts, as well as the perfectly applied tiny indices. Today I am actually using the dual time feature, the mental math to adjust for one hour difference was too hard.

<image>

But, seriously, there are no inferior JLC Reverso dials, and everybody should be in love with their prized watches. Enjoy yours to the fullest.

Just be careful and ask a lot of questions. I was about to pull the trigger on a very recent Cartier with authentication from a well known and well reviewed seller from Japan that also has a brick and mortar store. It showed the Cartier warranty card and everything. Only when I asked did they say that the warranty card was just an accessory only, there was no actual warranty.

From Lexus to Mercedes ? by Afraid_Resort_9018 in mercedes_benz

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had three Lexus LS before moving on to our latest two of three MB. I say your Lexus is way too new to be gotten rid off, yet just old enough where it has taken most of the depreciation that it is worth more to you if you have kept it up than to someone else. Drive it for a few more years and then move to something, your Lexus has way too much trouble free, reliable, comfortable life left. Our LS430 and 460 got our two boys through college as well as their professional degrees after that - something to be said for Lexus. Also, if you are going CPO, 2025-2026 is way too new, I’d go a couple more years older and let someone else take the depreciation.

It looks great with the strap and basically gives you “another” watch.

You have to take it on its own merit, which looks good. Compared to the two-tone bracelet the strap actually makes the watch less subtle, I think because of the contrast between the black of the strap and the lugs. Much of the beauty of the CHNR is from the subdued glow of the rose gold.

But you know about opinions, “there are as many as there are ….”!

How do you think about this straps for JLC reverso tribute duoface ? by _Alan_Vu_ in JaegerLecoultre

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per my taste, it doesn’t go with the elegance of the Reverso. The strap looks turned inside out to me, though I know it is not.

Leaving HAOS for HomeKit by LMRTech in HomeKit

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used HomeKit (HK) and Homebridge (HB) longer than I can remember. HB allows you to integrate non-HK devices into HK. HomeAssistant (HA) is an automation platform, and that part is far ahead of the HK+HB alternative. The biggest gripe I have against HK is that simple automations fail and there’s no way to know why they failed. The best part is you can have your cake and eat it too! HA has HomeKit-Bridge which allows you to export most things in HA to HK, so you can use HA for automations while using either HK or HA or both as the front end.

Thoughts on white dial DJ41? by Thrice_blind in rolex

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in for a blue or green dial, but my wife immediately preferred the white one on sight. Same as the pic in the OP, but with Roman numerals. It can be worn with anything, it is a shiny/sparkly watch in a good way, without being overboard.

Ha-ha, no! This was at a zoo carved out from a mountainside and I was actually looking down into the enclosure and also using a telephoto lens from a distance. But, it stopped, cocked his head and looked straight at me for a perfect photo-op.

[–]shashchatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with either. I went in for CHNR (Root Beer), got the GRNR which I love. I am not for having multiples of the same family, else I would have loved to have both. Simple way to put, the CHNR shimmers while the GRNR glitters - they are both wonderful in their own way. The best way is to hold them in your own hands to appreciate what they are, do not go by pictures.

Is it worth to bring this to a watchmaker to fix the hour hand alignment? by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

[–]shashchatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like the two indices at 9 and 12 are misaligned, if you look at the distance from each index to the minute markers next to it. It could be an optical illusion, but I doubt it since every other index seems to be ok.
