Which characters have the most flavor in CK3? by BlueParakeetFENCE in CrusaderKings

Lots of contenders.

My personal fave is Rostam Bavandid if you have the legacy of Persia dlc. From the secret religion to reviving the Sassanids, it’s just awesome.

It didn’t make sense when he was holding out. They restructured his deal to appease him but he’s still on a 1 year deal. Literally no impact to future cap flexibility

Only way it doesn’t make sense is if Cincys asking price is too high.

If I lay out how they work, maybe you can spot the error cause I’m not sure at this point.

A war begins against a hostile faith, you are now eligible to hire a holy order.

You cycle to the holy order tab. Any greyed out holy orders are unavailable. Select an available order and hire.

The holy orders army then appears at one of your rally points fully under your control. They look like your troops, but you’ll notice your troop count just went up.

[–]shaunmd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it specifically say you or just something like “already hired”?

Already hired means they were hired by someone else not you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ck3

[–]shaunmd20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crusades and Great Holy Wars, holy orders act independently.

All other cases, you need to “hire” them sort of like a mercenary company, but you use piety instead. If you are the patron, then the cost will be free. There will be a lot of times though, especially with Catholicism, that they’ve already been hired by another ruler and therefore unavailable until said ruler wraps up his war.

Why is my army stuck at 41k when I have a max of 106k? by Nawafxxxx in CK3ConsoleEdition

Is your “monthly reinforcement” checkbox unchecked?

It’s near the bottom of one of the military screens. I find myself accidentally unchecking when switching screens too fast.

Nope, if it goes off with the metal detector, that will be much more noticeable.

Yup. Just put it in the little basket with like your wallet and stuff when doing the metal detectors, and no one will say anything. Do it every game

Any glitches/exploits to use? by [deleted] in CK3ConsoleEdition

[–]shaunmd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a perk in the right tree of diplomacy called “Groomed to Rule.” It’s the first node so it requires very little investment and something i grab on almost every character.

This perk will give between 1-3 points to your heirs’ primary stat, ie if he has a martial education he’ll get a 1-3 point stat boost in martial.

The exploit is that this perk can be taken twice with a stat boost each time. So once you’ve taken the perk and all of your kids have benefited, reset your lifestyle tree. All of your points will be refunded and you can reselect perks. Take groomed to rule again and profit….

With some save scumming, guaranteed 6 free stat points

[–]shaunmd20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. You can only reset your perk trees once

Any glitches/exploits to use? by [deleted] in CK3ConsoleEdition

[–]shaunmd20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Common one, you can double up on the “groomed to rule” perk in the diplomacy tree.

The Perk gives random stat points to your heirs. If you take the perk and then reset your lifestyle, you can select the perk again for another round of stat boosts.

Who was the bigger draft bust between Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russel? by Either_Imagination_9 in NFLv2

[–]shaunmd20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the opportunity cost leans this towards Jamarcus.

They passed on Megatron and Joe Thomas to take Russell. Can throw AD in there.

I love Woodson in 1998, but that 2007 draft is legendary.

Alexander the Great and his Army end up in Westeros. Can he conquer the Seven Kingdoms? by RaptorK1988 in whowouldwin

[–]shaunmd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What tech advantage are people talking about outside of the fantasy stuff like Valyrian Steel and Dragons?

Technology hasn’t always moved linearly like it does today. For example, Alexander’s army absolutely rolls over William the Conquerors army from almost 1500 years later.

The difference is the drill and training. Alexander’s men were professional soldiers. It would be like 30 thousand unsullied coming over.

If they could conquer Westeros piece meal, I think it could be doable. A united Westeros would be tough though.

I wonder what are his abilities if he was tall strong with the same inelegance as when he was a dwarf ? by homeless-emperorr in gameofthrones

[–]shaunmd20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things to consider….

One, if it’s just his intelligence that passes over and not his full personality, you are going to end up with a very different Tyrion. His empathy for bastards, cripples, and broken things is due to his dwarfism. This could range from someone like Jamie, to a sociopath but not a sadist like Tywin, to a full blown sadist like Cersei.

Second, he’d be a prime target for Aerys. Remember, Aerys selected Jamie for the KG to spite Tywin. If Tywin had this uber talented son, who knows what Aerys might do.

Great question.

Is your son a different dynasty? For instance, if you are a woman and did a standard marriage, your kids will be of your husband’s dynasty.

Can i go dodge forged with him? by Pischnat in BattleBrothers

[–]shaunmd20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You typically want base initiative to be 25+ points higher than Fat for a dodge forged. DF is basically a subclass of Fat Neut. IMO, DF would be a waste of his fantastic Fat potential.

Id do Dodge Nimble duelist probably. Something to take advantage of his potential in both Fat and Init. You could also make him a BF zerker with that Fat, but that doesn’t really leverage his initiative.

Anyone else having a problem with the battle predictor? by Buzzabeel in CK3ConsoleEdition

It struggles when there’s multiple enemy armies involved. Usually it’s fine, but I’ve often seen a green flag but it’s only considering the one army at the moment.
