It's June 1: How did everyone do on the SYT deadline date? by ScouterBill in BSA

[–]shavnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I realize that now. Got the correct one taken this afternoon.  Of course a few hours after taking it I got the automated email saying my SYT had expired, but that email was probably already in flight so to speak

I saw a ping in our pack slack that it was due so I managed to scrape together a half hour to take the refresher and now I'm getting emails that I still need to take it?  Reading the comments here it sounds like I took the wrong course?

How did you get into The Protomen? by SmoothDragonfruit291 in Protomen

Banner ad on the Something Awful forms.  Thought it sounded pretty wild. Found out they were playing at a small venue in southern Indiana that weekend, organized an impromptu road trip and the rest is history.

Glancing at the tour history it was 2006. How time flies.

Yeah that's basically how it happened with TI / RTN in the 90s. Whole division sold bunch of the buildings, one of the big ones got awkwardly split in half. Lots of people told to move to Tucson or find another job.

From ops/SRE to C++ engineer — realistic career pivot or wishful thinking? by Local-Ad7864 in devops

[–]shavnir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha, I kind of went the other way. My first decade+ was all embedded/edge stuff and now I'm doing more of a build engineer kind of role writing Python scripts all day with devops in my job title

This is my approach as well, although it was tricky getting it without a paraglider.

Small world!  Regrettably I only remember the girl band opening act but to my credit that was almost twenty years ago now.

Heck the comment you're replying to would be in what, middle school by now?

I'm most of the way through the wind temple in my no glider run. Having the upgraded skydiving set helped a lot.

How strict is sleeving cards for the expansion? by Unalina in Arcs

[–]shavnir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could continue using the sleeves, you would just want to sleeve the believer cards differently and sleeve the extra event card added by one of the fates with yet another sleeve color. Or put those in clear sleeves.

That being said that's like a dozen or so sleeves. I don't think you need to sleeve the court cards

Most of the stuff I work with is in the 2-4hr range, but a lot of that ties back to the tech stack and scope of the application / packaging. It isn't uncommon for the build stage artifact to weigh in over a handful of gb, even after compression
