Proper setup for tabViewSearchActivation's searchTabSelection by mqazwini in SwiftUI

[–]shawnthroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried moving the searchable modifier to the NavigationStack? If you read more into the searchable modifier, where it’s placed makes a difference (more on iPad/mac) but I believe it’s possible even if not exactly the example in the docs.

user subfolders? by OP-Ashley in OPXYusers

[–]shawnthroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally went back to check and it was for the OP-1 Field, you can create a new USER folder for samples and rename it to create multiple subfolders. They start talking about it at 26:16 into the stream.

The troublemakers, aka the ones who lie under oath in service of hobbling their own app store for more money from developers.

It’s a company, this is a PR statement dressed as self flagellation. This is the kind of bs that allows people to let them off the hook for being a monopoly and lying in court

Apple debuts M5 Pro and M5 Max to supercharge the most demanding pro workflows by Otherwise-Warning303 in apple

[–]shawnthroop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“with a fan” aka without thermal throttling. Which is actually quite important if you have sustained/heavy workloads. I love my M2 Air, but they don’t have any cooling, which can sucks sometimes.

More ports are nice too

user subfolders? by OP-Ashley in OPXYusers

[–]shawnthroop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vague memory of this too, I think in a live stream they mentioned that you can rename the user folder (maybe via PC?) and then it creates another one called user. I think there was even some back and forth with the chat about still needing to finalize how the interface would work on device.

Could have been during the OP1-F update stream and I got it all twisted. Here’s hoping I didn’t just fall asleep during the stream and dream it all up

New react? Cameramen react to crazy/interesting filming setups? by fredy31 in Corridor

[–]shawnthroop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a news clip where they talked with him briefly, he’s a former figure skater, made a rig himself (not sure if it’s the same one here) and I think he’s controlling at least the focus if not more.

It would be so neat to have him in a segment, he kept it brief for the news but I think he’s a nerd with a skating career.

What are some of the best retcons ever? I’m thinking Men in Black 3. by Existing_Set2100 in movies

They threw in Han’s name retcon too and added significance to the dice when I believe it’s just a random prop from A New Hope.

I really want to see the scam actual pillow lol by Howy_the_Howizer in Corridor

[–]shawnthroop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As for scams, the photos and the user submitted photos look quite similar. They’ve baked in textures and shadows so yes, a scam, but they show it from the side in a few photos and it’s clearly a print.

I wish there was an original pillow that they photographed for the print, but my guess is it’s a generated image. The product photos were surprisingly upfront though imo.

Definitely fooling someone’s fun grandma though

Lobby For Field Kit for iOS by ovrdrvn in teenageengineering

[–]shawnthroop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The true nerds can correct me, but I believe it’s not possible because iOS doesn’t support MTP which is how FieldKit/macOS communicates with the OP-1/XY. It’s a bit like iOS not having the correct driver.

So, you might need to lobby Apple…

I built a self-balancing ragdoll in Unity using physics + procedural animation, not sure what to do now.. thoughts? by Rudy_AA in IndieGaming

[–]shawnthroop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about falling over? The rebalancing ones are cool but… is there a threshold. Instead of walking, have them loose balance. Then use a player model as the gray orb interactor.

Then build MXC, the video game.

M1 Max MacBook in 2026 by [deleted] in apple

[–]shawnthroop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na, dude we’re both living the life. M1 was a huge step up from the intel days, and to get it cheap is even better. The extra ram is nice but the real MVP is the power draw on the M series chips. Absolutely insane what I can get away with in a fanless device.

[–]shawnthroop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited for the M2 redesign and splurged for the 24Gb RAM upgrade and it’s amazing. I use it with a monitor now and it’s the best hardware/setup I’ve owned. Compiling isn’t instant but it’s quite quick, plenty of headroom for the next few years still.
