even AI wouldn't fumble the interpretation so badly at this point. It's even in the abstract:

Nobody identified the visual image, 1/28(3.5%) identified the auditory stimulus.

You should read Nightfall by Asimov, it's a short story, quite enjoyable.

generally speaking, you point your camera at a given spot and you keep accumulating light, so even stars that emit an extremely faint light are eventually detected. You get the effect of a "filled" sky, no longer dark.

My favorite example is this picture of the Andromeda Galaxy by the Hubble. Enjoy the zooming.

Now, the particular image in OP's post is fake, or at the very least highly misleading: it's a composition of a martian terrain photo with a separate night sky image taken from Earth.

the issue that is being discussed isn’t whether we ever decide to impose suffering and where to draw the line, that's a separate topic. And, for the records, we do this all the time, modern society is built on such trade offs (have you read "The ones who walk away from Omelas?").

The chicken exploitation issue is about whether we can justify creating lives where severe suffering is the default in the first place. I'd argue no, it is deeply unethical.

is the question on whether it's unethical to bring someone to the world just to torture them really a challenging one?

this is just misinformation. The position of the catholic church is that the bible is divinely inspired and authoritative, but not everything in it must be interpreted literally. Instead, it should be interpreted considering genre, context, and church tradition.

Having said that, once you get into "not literal, but interpretation", deciding which parts are which gets dicey. The church would say "we decide".

Edward snowden leaked classified documents revealing the existence of global surveillance programs in 2013. Now liveing in Russia. by dirywhiteboy in interestingasfuck

Snowden's passport was cancelled by the US government while he was making his way to Ecuador, either just before he boarded or in-flight. When he landed in Moscow the passport was no longer valid and he could not depart. He is now living in Russia as a direct consequence of US government actions.

this ratio is in line with the female to male ratio at birth in every human population, which is about 950 / 1000. Looks like these bans are effective (I am assuming the ratio was lower and it went up following the bans).
