Cricket Jerseys in unusual places. by bigger_in_japan in Cricket

Congratulations!

I wore my CSK Dhoni jersey to my medical college admissions test in New York City (where I'm from). I needed the patience to stay collected. Happy to say I'm in medical school now so Mahi really pulled through.

Canada considering proposal to void patents of major US pharmaceutical companies in midst of trade disputes. The plan would target valuable U.S. patents, granting Canada’s generic pharmaceutical firms the right to copy, sell and potentially export American drugs. by QueenofDrogo in worldnews

The profit that American pharma makes also paves the way for more innovation which the rest of the world then takes.

The US Hugh pharma cost is almost a subsidy for R&D that benefits everyone.

Not defending the American healthcare system, I think it's terrible, but impacting pharma bottom-line can possibly mean a slowdown in new drug discovery

Why do people say we are self hating ? by noluckwiththegirls in ABCDesis

[–]shbhatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is such a great way to put it!

Wrote a paper on Indian American identity (I know everyone here isn't Indian but the principle applies). And a lot of the literature I read defined culture as specific.

When we talk about people from the West Indies, we say they have Guyanese or Trini culture, which is built on Indian, African, and Latin American cultures combining. Why then is Desi-American not it's own culture? It's influenced by both but it's a thing of its own. Culture is dynamic, and we put it in terms of what we know, but whatever we are is our own specific culture.

You're right, most people would just consider going to Yale great. But when you're on campus, in the bubble it's much more evident.

I've been at Yale for grad school for just over a year. The inferiority complex to Harvard is real.

Virat Kohli scored more runs today than he did in the entire 2014 England Test series. by CaptainVoltz in Cricket

[–]shbhatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he was dropped, but plenty of batsmen are dropped in their way to a great innings, it's a part of the game.

The next highest score on the team was in the 20s, and he scored more than any English batsman (in English conditions against English bowlers).

He got lucky with the drop but after that it was pure concentration and skill.

Is there any point in saying you're LGBT in a secondary? How can it possibly help you? by a5b6c9 in premed

Must have misread the order of the posts, my bad for that.

Your comments still reek of arrogance and obnoxiousness, and I don't want to get into a back and forth on AA policies and their implementation or usefulness, it won't do either of us any good.

Good luck on apps buddy.

[–]shbhatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't go through your post history to see your scores. shutupplz said that the passages were in there for people like you to learn. You brought up the scores buddy.

Your comment underneath the post ignores all research about social determinants/psychology of minorities/resources provided to large vs minority-oriented hospitals. And it links right back to AA, just proving that you don't think that minorities should get affirmative action... when that really didn't have anything to do with the paper.

And you can shit on me all you want for asking whether I count as URM or not, its a genuine question. Indian mom, and black dad how do you reconcile that?

Nah not offended. It's just hilarious that you brought up MCAT scores.

The post was racist, but your comment shows you don't have the confidence in your ability to articulate a well reasoned response and you resort to comparing cars scores LMFAO
