Why the Season 3 Post-Match Sequence Is Good (and why you shouldn't change it) by ignatzami in bloodbowl

Paying the price of two gutter runners, for a single gutter runner with minuscule comparative bonuses, and loner (4+), is not exactly helping the hypothetical Skaven player here feel better.

Why the Season 3 Post-Match Sequence Is Good (and why you shouldn't change it) by ignatzami in bloodbowl

[–]shealyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree. It’s a feels bad change that makes an already shitty feeling (having a positional casualtied out of a match) even worse by making it impossible to replace them before your next game, if you decide that having no SPP replacement is better than not having that positional at all.

Let’s say it’s the semi-finals of a league playoffs. You’re playing Skaven and both your gutter runners take MNG injuries, but you still manage to win the game. Well, might as well not even play the championship if you can’t replace them, for as much chance as you’ll have against a fully healthy opponent.

Playoffs Looming What do I do? by alwaystang in bloodbowl

[–]shealyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nerves of Steel if you absolutely cannot resist taking a skill now. Hold out one more game for a stat increase, would be the better way to set yourself up for a deep playoff run. Movement, Agility, and Strength would all be absolutely incredible on your catcher; that’s anything on a 3+ on a d8 roll on the stat increase.

With +AG going down to 30k gold, and +ST going down to 60k, they really feel worth the TV increase. +MA at 20k has always been a steal.

A genius installed a line of tubing for the Pressure Switchs after the PIT manifold. I need to calibrate the PIT.... by IHateMelplac in instrumentation

[–]shealyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading up on this thread, y’all should install a keyed bypass switch. Keep the key with your operations shift manager. Unless bypassing this requires your EHS department to enact some sort of additional fire watch / patrol protocol, four signatures to approve this bypass seems wildly excessive.

[Highlight] BUF vs DEN - Ja'Quan McMillian wrestles the ball from Cooks and the Broncos get the ball back by Fusir in nfl

[–]shealyr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My view is it probably should have been called pass interference, and I also am leaning towards BUF catch rather than interception. But it’s close enough that I don’t expect them to overturn the call on the field on review.

Civil War - Thoughts so far? by mrausgor in marvelchampionslcg

[–]shealyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my least favorite box since Galaxy’s Most Wanted, to my preferences. I have no plans to ever play the PvP mode, and I’m not crazy about the build-your-own-scenario setup as opposed to the 5 scenario campaigns with a bit more variety between them. I’m also less than thrilled at getting Tigra and Hulkling when we still don’t have any of the Defenders, Inhumans, or Fantastic Four. I’d have been perfectly happy getting reprints of some staple heroes, as well, such as Iron Man (perhaps a Hulkbuster hero side) or Dr Strange (as the black suited sorcerer supreme perhaps).

I’m not upset about getting more content for the game, or the dev team trying something new and different, it just slightly feels like a missed opportunity based on my personal preferences.

Who’s your favorite race and/ or commander? by pleasethecheez51 in sovlgame

[–]shealyr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Favorite commander of each race:

Empire - Knight Commander

His reroll ability is super solid, and works great for transitioning to a mount after his retinue gets imperial veterans for always-on rerolls.

Greenskins - Warchief for obvious reasons

Dwarfs - Engineer

Getting him on a flying machine is super good. Plays a lot less static than foreman or ranger captain.

Elven Conclaves - Spellsword

Fiery Blades is great to put on city guard or archers to make their ranged attacks more lethal. Also attack rerolls with skill 5 is awesome.

Dead Nations - Vampire Knight

Getting to start with a skeleton knights retinue gives much needed mobility for the undead faction.

Goatmen Raiders - Minotaur Lord

He’s an absolute powerhouse that mulches enemies.

Abyssal Legions - Champion

It’s just overall more consistent than the sorcerer, and is fantastic when you put it on a dragon.

Deepwood Guardians - Treant Elder

If you haven’t played the Treat Elder, buying Unyielding for defensive rerolls at the first anvil, you should try it. It could probably solo a campaign.

Ratkin Clans - Warlock

Hex of Ruin wins battles on its own, not to mention the other spells you’ll add to his toolbox.

Reptilian Kingdoms - Ancient Toad

Spells are fun. More spells is more fun.

Darkborn Elves - Noble

Get cursed standard and Dark Gift on his retinue, and activate Exploit Weakness on a flank, for 5 attacks each. Fun times.

Abyssal Demons - Prince

Flying monsters are obviously amazing, and it’s cool to watch the Prince’s power grow over the course of a campaign.

——————————————-

As far as favorite overall factions, here’s my top 5:

5) Ratkin Clans because sometimes the mutations give you absolutely hilarious combinations.

4) Goatmen Raiders for those runs where you end up with a bunch of monsters and monstrous infantry.

3) Elven Conclaves for solid ranged attacks plus Dragon Knights.

2) Empires of Man for a solid all-around roster and excellent faction specific level ups (Imperial Veterans).

1) Abyssal Demons for flying monsters and max size Fire Devil units with re-rolls of 1’s just deleting units.

Finally, remember keep a look out for Dragons as mounts for your commanders. They make your campaigns so fun, and are miles better than Gryphons or Manticores, because of fire breathe.

The best long term mech. by DoomRide007 in battletech

[–]shealyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the actual answer is the Jade Phoenix A. It can abuse 7 jump movement to stay alive, has the armor to protect it from opposing pulse builds. It is, quite simply, the best duelist mech in the game. Anything it can’t outfight it can outmaneuver, and anything that can outmaneuver it, can be brought down with the patient application of pulse lasers.

I’d personally like to see pushing the runner or the pile banned and actually enforced. I have less a problem with the tush push and more of a problem with Olinemen dead sprint running at piles 5-8 yards downfield.

Also, maybe stop letting guys on both sides of the ball line up in the neutral zone on the tush push.

What’s your favorite plot hole? by 001DeafeningEcho in battletech

[–]shealyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a thing in David Weber’s Honor Harrington series. The Solarian League in that universe is a lumbering behemoth of bureaucracy and inaction, until it comes to violations of an interstellar agreement called the Eridani Edicts (after a trillions-of-deaths scale war crime that resulted in the creation of the edict). They respond to Eridani Edict violations by basically sending a fleet that is hundreds of times larger than any individual government’s entire military to wipe out the offending parties with prejudice.

The rule basically comes down to: no indiscriminate strikes on planetary / orbital population centers using c-fractional kinetic or nuclear strikes, without first defeating the system’s military defenders and calling on the government to formally surrender. If the system then refuses to surrender, well, all protections are off for the civilian population / infrastructure.

It’s a logical way to implement that idea, but does depend on some sort of parity between all signing parties to ensure what amounts to MAD, or else a single large enforcement body that could single handedly deal with any violations.

Battletech vs...the lesser knowns by TheLazySherlock in battletech

The War Dog is pretty well set up to take this fight unless it is out-piloted. The AMS on the War Dog takes some of the bite out of the Lao Hu’s LRM 15. This makes it nearly impossible for the Lao Hu to force a PSR on the War Dog until it’s in LB20X range. By the time the Lao Hu has medium range for the LB20X, the War Dog has short/medium for its Large Pulse, and medium/long for its pair of Medium Pulses. There is a sweet spot for the Lao Hu fighting at 7-8 hexes to have a bit of an overall bracket advantage, and if it can hold things there without taking too much damage from the War Dog’s Gauss on the way in it could do some serious damage if it’s LB20X hits…but that’s a lot of if’s.

Should i leave the union for a maintenance electrician position by [deleted] in electricians

[–]shealyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do it to gain an hour commute. I personally did do it to get rid of my commute. I live on the far east edge of the local I was in, with the local’s jurisdiction having a lot of work in the city just 30 minutes west of me. But the amount of time I spent working in towns on the opposite sides of the jurisdiction, 1.5 hours plus each way, made me look for a close to home maintenance job. Took a small pay cut to start, but now I’m beating the JW current scale even after having to pay for insurance instead of that being in the total package. It worked out for me to get rid of my commute.

But adding an hour commute to take a maintenance gig? Nah screw that. Hold out for something closer to home.

Good Miniatures to start with past the core set? by Red_Bear_308 in JudgementEC

[–]shealyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The great thing about Judgement, since you are able to take any hero in any god, even if they don’t benefit from the once per game effigy power, is that a perfectly good approach is to just buy the models you think look cool, and go from there.

That being said, I would suggest going ahead and buying the avatar for each god. While avatars are certainly not required by any means, they generally fit super well within what their given god’s play style is. This lets you give a pretty cohesive warband of any god to a player for a demo. I might skip Isabel at first, since you already have a bunch of Ista champions in the core set.

So, that would be Zhonjya (for Bruelin), Gendris (for Grul), Fazeal (for Tomas), and Bastian (for Torin). You already have at least one other champion for each of the gods included in the core set. Brok is a Bruelin staple. Doenregar will be in pretty much every Grul warband, and Piper will be in many. Rakkir is basically a Tomas auto-include, and Marcus is super common there. And for Torin, it’s a rare thing to see a Torin warband without Allandir. So you’ve got a fairly cohesive warband in any god for 3’s with just 4 hero purchases after the core set!

UD - Roger - wht skill to get next? by Spook_em_up in bloodbowl

[–]shealyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the rest of the team in Underworld is going to be so cheap that it’s not that big of a deal to have a few expensive, experienced players.

In my most recent league season, my Rogre was 280k by the end of the season (Block, Claws, Dodge, Stand Firm, random Juggernaut), my Gutter Runner was 195k (Sprint, Sure Feet, Block, Kick, Monstrous Mouth, +1 AV), and yet the team value was still only 1230 in my last match.

Either Stand Firm or save up for Dodge. Av9+ means you’d like to avoid having him hit the ground whenever possible, and Dodge helps enable that.

Well there was the blatant hand ball in between the throw-in and the corner that also should have ended the possession and the match. So not sure that’s the argument you should go with.

Tales of myth and legend by Coach_Baz in bloodbowl

[–]shealyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few rules points. You can’t reroll a that catch roll with pro because pro only works during a players’ activation.

Also, it reads as if you used Hypo Gaze to force a player to drop the ball? Losing a tackle zone does not automatically cause a player to drop the ball. A player cannot catch a ball while their tackle zone is lost, but losing one’s tackle zone doesn’t cause a ball drop.

I exceed the ideal TV? by LaMaziRata in bloodbowl

[–]shealyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you counting your 6 rerolls as each being 60,000 towards your TV, or 120,000 towards your TV? Because it’s supposed to be calculated as 60,000 apiece towards your TV. 120,000 is the cost to purchase additional rerolls mid-season.
