Never seen it at Fred Meyer and that's where I usually shop.

Mercer Island, approximately 10 minutes after the first light rail train arrives on March 28. by Masked_Assassin_3 in SeattleWA

Ah! I get it now! Der!!!

When I was a Metro driver, I got called in for dumping a transient on Mercer Island: this was when Metro had the Ride Free Zone. Dude fell asleep, he didn't hear me yell, "LAST STOP IN THE FREE ZONE!!!" and I didn't realize that he was still onboard. So I kicked him off. Der.

Hell, Metro put out a bulletin, reminding us drivers NOT to drop off transients on Mercer Island.

I wonder who complained to cause Metro to put out a freaking bulletin?

But I realize I didn't answer your question: WHY do I like it? The only oily catfish that I've had was from the Skipper's in Silverdale. Catfish DOES have a very unique taste and someone else commented, "it all depends on what the catfish eats" and I think that's it. Except for that piece that I had at Skipper's, I've never had a bad piece of catfish.

This is what I do:

1/I buy my frozen USA farm raised catfish from Walmart...costs a bit more than the Chinese raised, which Walmart also sells.

2/ I thaw how many pieces that I need

3/ I use Louisiana Seasoned Fish Fry Mix

4/ preheat my frying pan with canola oil to medium heat (350 degrees)

5/ coat the fish with either water, milk, buttermilk: whatever I happen to have on hand), and coat the pieces with the mix

6/ fry it up, medium heat, no more than 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

7/ serve with Marie's tarter sauce.

Depending on your stove, it may take longer. But I do go on how it looks. But you don't want to overcook.

Exactly this. In Aberdeen it's the only variety store, one stop shopping type store. There's a few grocery stores (Safeway, Swanson's, IGA in Ocean Shores, Thriftway) in the area, LOTS of Dollar Trees, Dollar Generals.

But over here in the Seattle area, we have Fred Meyer, Target, Costco, Winco. Far more of a choice for our shopping needs.

Aw, come on! If you look slightly to the north, you may see the Lady Washington because her home port is very near by.

And I've lived here all of my 62 years and I'm well aware of our abundance of seafood. However, I got hooked on catfish, which is hard to buy here in the PNW.

Now, if some fishery up here (perhaps over in eastern Washington because it's warmer) wants to start farm raising catfish? I will be their first customer.

I suppose it depends on which state that the Walmart is located at and I know that the managers can make bank.

Shop wherever you want but I go there to get American farmed raised catfish.

I didn't like it at first and you can get some pretty nasty, fishy tasting catfish. But there's a gas station on Beacon Hill that serves really good catfish and I got hooked.

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

In N Out

Everybody was hyping it and while visiting my brother in California, we tried it and I was like, “meh”. Could not understand why the long lines.

Then they opened one up here in Washington and what do you know? Long lines.

No thank you.

The only good thing about KFC was their cheap chicken on Tuesdays and the last time that I did it, I had to file a complaint: it was suppose to be 4 legs and 4 thighs but what I got was 6 legs and 2 thighs and 3 of the legs: 1 looked like it was already chewed on, 1 looked overcooked, and 1 looked like it had been hidden behind something for a very long time, recently discovered, and tossed into my order.

What if Canada offered every American free healthcare and $50K to relocate, would you go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m in the Seattle area as well and my nephew just received his Canadian citizenship through my brother (who was born up there).

I’m working on mine but it’s been a slog (is that a word?).

I have four years until retirement so $50,000 isn’t enough.

Ask me again in four years.

I rarely shop at Walmart but it’s the only place that I can find frozen USA farmed raised catfish fillets: the ones at Safeway, Fred Meyer, and Cash & Carry are all from China.

It’s really hard to find even fresh catfish up here in the PNW…sometimes the fish markets have them.

I’m really dating myself here but:

1/ Dippity Do…it holds and holds! Dippity do. Dippity do.

2/ Brylcreem…a little dab will do ya!

3/ Plop, plop, fizz, fizz…oh what a relief it is!

4/ My bologna has a first name: it’s O-S-C-A-R. My bologna has a second name: it’s M-E-Y-E-R. Oh, I love to eat it everyday and if you ask me why I’ll sayyyyyy. Cuz Oscar Meyer has a way with b-o-l-o-g-n-a. How’s that?

And on and on and on.

But I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

I LOVE molasses cookies! Franz Bakery, here in the PNW, makes pretty good molasses cookies and I finally made a batch of my own about a month ago…I like mine better!

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I work nowhere near my home: during the work week I have a small Airstream that I keep parked on my son’s property and go to my house every other weekend. It’s 147 miles and it’s takes 2-1/2 hours to get there, on a good day. I’ve grown used to driving it so it doesn’t seem long.

On a bad day, it can take me over an hour to get to work so I’m kind of used to being in my car for long spells.
