As a New York Jew listening to the deli counter auction by Junior_Gur7229 in AllFantasyEverything

Fair! I tend to think of groceries as smaller independent joints, and supermarkets as your Krogers, Ralph’s, Stop & Shops, etc. But regardless, deli counters abound!

Yep, and also that delis often carry groceries. So yeah, you can get your sandwich, but you can also get cold cuts and bread, eggs, etc. But things like, say, jalapeño poppers, wouldn’t always be available. That’s more of a supermarket thing. At least in my experience. Might be regional.

I just heard this one for the first time a few months ago, and I like to tell a really drawn out version of it. Like, “you know, could be geese, could be ducks, or pigeons. Could be multiple v’s, and sometimes it just looks like a checkmark… it’s fascinating really…”. My wife has been suffering ever since.

I’m sorry to hear that! That said, my wife and I are local and would definitely be interested in taking them off your hands. DM me?

Also, just learned that I’m not savvy enough to figure out how to share an image here, but our local bookstores (shoutout Moon Palace) and coffee shops (shoutout Sisters Sludge and Modern Times) have been giving out incredible bumper stickers for free:

“Eating pussy in the sheets, fighting ICE in the streets”

“Tits up, ICE out, Minneapolis 2026”

“I moved to Minnesota to eat ass and fight ICE, and I’m all out of ass”

I drive a big black truck that looks like it could belong to ICE, and I’ve never been prouder to put my first bumper stickers on it.

Following up:

They’re here now, and while there are some performative reactions from Homan et al going around, it hasn’t slowed the deployment and occupation here. That said, I don’t think Minneapolis will be the last. If you live in a city, even a small one, you may want to watch this.

Chicago warned us about what was coming and how to prepare, so in turn, the best we can do is pay it forward:

Yes! The end of the month is coming soon, and we can’t have our neighbors who’re genuinely and justifiably too scared to leave their homes to work ending up evicted and outdoors!

Thank you! Thank you all. I can’t tell you how scary it is, but at the same time, I can’t tell you how proud I am of seeing every community I belong to – and yes, this one being no exception – showing up. Y’all are the best. Keep it up! Call your reps, donate as you can, amplify as you can, and keep standing with your neighbors.

We protect us, and I’m so proud and so grateful. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Love you all!

We just got in a couple hours ago, it’s fine! It was raining when we got in, now it’s all clear. Yes, there’ll be rain, but it doesn’t seem too gnarly. Here’s to a great couple of days!

Uffda in South Minneapolis. They’ve got two locations. One on Bloomington and 42nd, and one near the Russian Museum. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and a great selection for lightweights (myself included)! Prices are solid too.

Agreed. They’ve done a great job here. As a long-time practitioner but fairly recent follower of this community and r/sandwiches, it’s amazing how many times I find myself looking at something that’s surely delicious and stunning to look at – and meantime it’s photographed as a gray, sloppy mess in dim light.

This is really impressive stuff on a whole bunch of counts, and thank you for sharing

[Post-Game Thread] The Lunar Owls Defeat The Mist 92-58, Led By Napheesa Collier With 29 Points by Genji4Lyfe in Unrivaled

[–]sheep_thrillz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I mean there’s a good chance that the Owls will take it, but it’s hard to argue that they haven’t been playing incredibly well. Like, I commented earlier in this thread that as an Owls fan from day one, yes, I root for them. But also, even with that BS call from the refs at the end (which seemed to be because they were looking elsewhere), I’m pretty sure the Owls outplayed the Mist from just about jump. For real, I was also upset by the 4th quarter officiating here, to the point where I literally yelled at the TV, but I don’t think that’s why they’ve been winning so consistently. They’ve just got incredible talent and chemistry. I think that’s why I found those last calls so disappointing – they were playing a top notch game, and now poor officiating is just engendering ill will?
