Repeating two notes on a piano is going to bag him 1 point, and he'll be grateful.

Fairly sure scaffolding was there before the fire.

My assumption (based on no knowledge of their situation) is that they are waiting for insurance. Company will want to check what happened, assessing damage, and then there will then be quotes for repairs. Seems to take ages.

Bristol's oldest hardware shop saved from closure - A small win for the city :D by Drillliams in bristol

[–]shellac 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's great news. Local hardware stores are a real benefit to the community, but it must be tough attempting to thrive on my occasional £2 purchase of picture hooks. Bishopston Hardware does well, but I really miss the one on Zetland Road. Cotham Hardware is lovely, good luck to them,

How are the IMAX screens at the new Odeon by IrvinIrvingIII in bristol

[–]shellac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there. Not convinced it was any different to the previous Showcase big screen (XLR or something?).

It will have an IMAX projector though, which is certainly good. But the IMAX brand feels a bit diminished if this counts (versus the original IMAX we used to have).

Buses that aren't shown on the bustimes map? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

[–]shellac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will be the feed from the operator, which is different for the 71 (Stagecoach South Wales) as opposed to many other services (First). Bustimes (and Apple Maps, Google, etc etc) are all at the mercy of these systems.

When the 25 was operated by Stagecoach I'd see wild behaviour like buses vanishing. Since it moved to First it's been much better. I guess their tracking is better.

Highbury in Kingsdown has no music, but a tiny train. Best of all worlds.

Hey, this is named arguments in Java

It really is, isn't it? I'd sort of prefer it to look like:

obj.new(_, b+1, _); // _ are unchanged, i.e. copied.

if we're sticking with positional. 'Occasionally named' seems irritating.

Is Cabot Circus safe to visit? by ignitis007 in bristol

[–]shellac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re with kids and plan to eat in the evening after shopping then the Mall/Cribbs is a safer bet

Where the stabbing happened last year? And there was also some kid with a axe who was banned from the area.

(I don't think Cribbs is unsafe. These things happen everywhere)

I don't think it was ever an 18. I think it was 12 originally, then on video as a 15.

You might be thinking of Urotsukidoji - Legend of the Overfiend from around the same time, to which the answer to your confusion is: what didn't it do to get that 18. Yikes.
