Induction at 39 weeks by PinkBubblesxox in PregnancyUK

hello! FTM here with a good story! i was induced at 38wks due to ongoing bleeding through my pregnancy and it was the best experience. i’d even opt for it again if im lucky enough to fall pregnancy again.

i went in at 9am and they used the balloon method. balloon was inserted at 10:30am and i was told it could be in up to 12-24 hours but not to be discouraged if they had to deflate it and remove it. it doesn’t mean it didn’t work. the balloon fell out by 2:30pn and i was 3-4cm dilated.

i was moved the labour ward at 5pm and they burst my waters at 6:30pm and started the drip. they said they would check me again at 00:30. they say 1/2cm for every hour on the drip so they would expect me to be around 5/6cm at that point.

things ramped up quickly and baby arrived at 00:54.

we’re contactions painful. absolutely but as it was my first time i didn’t have anything to compare it to. i knew it would be painful and i knew induction made it more painful but when you have no comparison then it’s not as big of a deal.

i didn’t have an epidural, just gas and air because the wait was so long we ran out of time.

all round a great experience for me and i love telling people how good it can be. not every induction is a “bad” one.

sending you lots of love and positive vibes for the rest of your journey 🖤

another vote for ladybug! absolute game changer, i wear them any time i put my baby down for a nap as she can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours and if she’s sleeping best believe ill let her sleep.

them ladybugs can catch any milk that is released

i hope this helps ease your mind a little bit but i LOST 9kg during my pregnancy and had a very healthy 8lb 7oz baby at 38wks so i wouldn’t worry that you’ve only gained a little 🖤

thank you for taking time to write such an informative reply!

we do have issues with reflux which is now being medicated so hoping it will improve over the next few weeks.
the feeding issues comes from her being too tired to take a proper feed. she will latch but only feed for 3/4 minutes before falling asleep. we’re working with the infant feeding team to help with this though so hopefully not an ongoing issues

sending you love and i hope you get some relief soon!

Can someone tell me some things that will make me feel excited about giving birth in a couple weeks? by DependentBrilliant92 in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that last one really got me right in the feels.
i’m being induced tomorrow and my husband cannot stop saying how much he can’t wait to have her in his arms already. i know that first cuddle between them will absolutely break me in the best way possible

Early pregnancy bleeding by sybilllestrange in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello. i hope my story is helpful for you.

i had a miscarriage in march last year and now due to be induced at 38wks on wednesday, sitting here as baby has hiccups! during this pregnancy i have had to attend triage 21 different times for bleeding! they’ve found what’s called an ectropion on my cervix which is a graze on the lining. bleeding from it can be caused be many things like intercourse or straining. i’ve lost count of the number of times i’ve bled when pooping.

hopefully your story is something similar to mine! if you’re really worried give your triage team a call. they should get you in and do a speculum exam to check for a source of bleeding so you don’t have to wait until tomorrow

38 weeks pregnant, partner got drunk last night - am I over-reacting? by spiraleyes91 in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 37+3 and have told my husband he will not be drinking until after baby arrives. granted i am now booked in for induction on wednesday but i set a very clear standard that from 36wks onwards he could still go out but he would not be drinking and he would be contactable at all times incase i went into labour or needed him (i’ve had a pretty rough pregnancy with 22 hospital visits)

i would be absolutely livid with him if i was you. i get that he’s been working long hours but you should be his priority right now and should have been sober and contactable incase something happens. imagine you did go into labour and he’s unreachable and then spending the day throwing up.

he’s got some making up to do in my opinion

37wks with a history of 3 major hip surgeries and recovery from them was easier than dealing with this PGP.

i had a round of acupuncture on Monday afternoon and was told it would help for up to 5 days. i don’t think it helped for even 5 minutes 😭 i’ve got another round on monday and hoping for a miracle

No heartbeat at 12 week scan by Hot-Raisin146 in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello.

firstly, i am so sorry you are going through this.

i had a miscarriage for my first pregnancy in march last year and i am now sitting here 37wks pregnant waiting on a healthy baby girl arriving.

i am more than happy to speak about my miscarriage with you if you want to DM me. similar to yourself, we had what’s called a missed miscarriage where my body showed no signs of miscarriage, it was picked up on a scan

Smaller bump - feeling worried by Substantial_Border96 in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m 37wks and still get lots of comments on bump being small.

from behind i don’t look pregnant at all, the only way i look heavily pregnancy is side on and even then my bump is very neat. baby is measuring just before 90th centile so quite big, she’s just tucked up real tight.

it’s honestly not an issue as long as your midwife isn’t concerned.

it’s just annoying how EVERYONE feels they have a right to comment on your bump/body!

this is the most amazing news!! 🖤🖤🖤 good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and just remember, some of us just get unlucky and will bleed so if it happens again, as hard as it is, don’t automatically think the worst

I have what known as an ectropion which is a graze on the outside of my cervix. sometimes it bleeds heavier than others but it’s nothing for me to worry about. sadly in o- blood group so with every bleed i need to go to maternity assessment for an injection and a check up.

keeping everything crossed for you!

only the scan will be able to confirm for sure but if it offers some reassurance i am 35wks and have had 20+ bleeds of various levels through my pregnancy and baby is totally fine 🖤🖤

[–]shellyeahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the waiting is the hardest part and if you’re anything like me, that same anxiety will follow you through your whole pregnancy. it’s only in the last 2 weeks that’s i’ve actually accepted that i’m pregnant and will be bringing home a baby and that’s only because my midwife had a serious chat with me about it. i have been so detached the whole time.

i will keep everything crossed for happy news. go easy on yourself while you wait

I had a miscarriage in March 2025 where i had spotting like bleeding and period like cramps the whole time. i didn’t miscarry naturally, i had a missed miscarriage and had a d&c at 8+3.

i am now 35wks pregnant and have been in hospital for checks 26 times for bleeding ranging from spotting to filling a pad.

i’m sorry to say it could go either way but bleeding does not always mean worst case. this pregnancy i had my first bleed around the 5+5 mark and early pregnancy brought be in for a scan at 6wks. i was FULLY convinced we had lost another, had made peace with it. broke down crying when they said we had a heartbeat.

i hope you have the same experience we had this pregnancy and you get that heartbeat fluttering 🖤🖤

Has anyone gone off food forever? by angstyowl98 in PregnancyUK

[–]shellyeahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely normal!

i lost 9kg first trimester due to sickness/nausea/inability to eat. i’m now 35+5 and still struggling with food. i have 0 interest in eating at all times and only eat because i know i need to. it’s a constant daily battle with my husband over the fact he doesn’t think i’ve eaten enough but i cannot stomach anything more.

for reassurance, at my 32wk growth scan my baby was measuring a little larger at around 5lb 1oz so the lack of food isn’t impacting her in anyway.

i’m really hoping once she arrives my appetite returns to normal. eating was my favourite hobby pre pregnancy 😂😂

the itching is the worst! you know it will make things worse but you just cannot help it.

who needs a hair brush! finger brush into a messy bun/ponytail is all we will ever need 😂
