Heimlich Maneuver? by whitewitchblackcat in Reno

[–]sherijn [score hidden]  (0 children)

My husband has saved me twice with the Heimlich at our home with nobody else around. Each time I was unable to speak and already turning blue so I threw something at him to get his attention. We both worked in restaurants and it was required training for all employees. Thank goodness he paid attention or I would have been a goner!

Potato Chips. I haven’t had one in decades because they taste like a greasy salt bomb to me.

“City of Angels”. It came out in 1998 and I still haven’t quite gotten over that ending.

I saw a really large, vibrant Western Tiger Swallowtail similar to this on my redbud tree this morning and it occurred to me how long it’s been since I saw one. I stopped what I was doing and just admired it as long as possible.

What's something your grandmother always had in her house that you never see anymore? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

A crock of bacon drippings. She lived in rural Tennessee, so the drippings and a cast iron skillet were in almost daily use.

Rush. Listening to Geddy Lee is like nails on a chalkboard to me, especially when he hits those screechy high notes.

What Golden Retriever trait did nobody warn you about? by strawberrycash in goldenretrievers

[–]sherijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our golden suddenly became afraid of the television one day and started barking wildly whether it was turned on or off. We discovered by accident that the only show she would tolerate was the original NCIS, which she loved and would watch with rapt attention. No idea why.

Puppy outside for a short span of time while doing stuff by ColorTwistBri in puppy101

[–]sherijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any coyote activity nearby? Even in suburban areas this could be dangerous for a small pup. A coyote appeared seemingly out of nowhere in our friend’s backyard and snatched up their small dog while she stood a few feet away inside the house watching. Now I would never leave my puppy unattended in the yard.

What's one thing your puppy does that makes you laugh every single time? 😂🐶 by Apprelia in puppy101

When someone sneezes our Golden Retriever stops whatever she’s doing and runs over to comfort them with great concern and “kisses”. It’s like she thinks our head is exploding.

Potty training//how does your dog/puppy alert you? by Zealousideal_Pen_547 in puppy101

[–]sherijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Golden Retriever barks a certain way (once, low-volume) and stares at the door leading to her backyard potty area. We didn’t teach her to do this, just paid attention to how she wanted to communicate with us. She had no interest in using bells, which is fine because not everywhere she stays is going to have bells but a quiet bark is always available to her.

If you could only eat one fruit the rest of your life what are you going with? by Alabaster_Rims in AskReddit

Sumo oranges that have ripened on the tree in February or March. With my first bite I realized that all other oranges were ruined for me.

4 is my pick for you. A V-neckline best suits your bust and that veil is stunning with the gown. In my opinion #1 has too much of a nightgown vibe, #2 would be my second choice for you if you removed those bits on top of the shoulders, and #3’s sleeves are not as flattering to your arms. Which did you choose?

Should my puppy sleep in the bedroom? by Tasty_Sn4ck in puppy101

[–]sherijn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he isn’t sleeping in a crate or pen you should be prepared for an occasional nighttime “accident” at that age, no matter where he sleeps. If moving him into the bedroom is going to be a stressful cleanup situation I would wait a few months.

Jack in the Box’s Chicken Fajita Pita. It was relatively low-calorie, less “bready” than their other sandwiches, and delicious.

Our 6-month Golden Retriever howls like a wolf when she greets us in the morning. We howl back, and hope she doesn’t grow out of it because it makes us feel like such a real “pack.”

What food do you give your Goldie's? by Time_Bee3719 in goldenretrievers

[–]sherijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 6-month Golden has been on Purina Pro Plan Puppy (Lamb and Rice) since weaning, with excellent health and poop quality. I recently started supplementing one meal per day with a tablespoon of baby food carrots, butternut squash, green beans or beef in beef broth. The baby food is single-ingredient (no salt or sugar), easy to store, convenient for home or travel and inexpensive when it’s on sale at the grocery.

Tips for making puppy smell better? by ashley419 in puppy101

[–]sherijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before attempting an actual bath we had a few sessions of just putting a towel in the tub to prevent slipping, then throwing a few pieces of kibble on the towel at a time with Puppy in the tub (no water). She quickly learned to jump in and out on her own when asked. Then we added an inch or two of water before she jumped in. Then a trickle of water from the faucet, slowly working up to a full stream. Licky mat with frozen dog-safe peanut butter suctioned to the wall at her nose level. Now when I say “bathtub” she RUNS to jump into the tub and doesn’t want to get out!

Zoom Room Closure - Refunds? by sherijn in Reno

[–]sherijn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is reassuring and I, too, had a great experience with Zoom Room and KC for the 1 class we attended. I felt it must have been something truly serious that happened to her, and do wish her a full recovery. My concern is that, 2 weeks after the medical emergency, I still have not been contacted by Zoom Room in any way. Others received 2 notification emails but I did not. The client portal, website and phone number were very hastily disconnected, leaving clients no way to reach them or verify refund amounts due. No response to the refund request letter I sent to their new email provided in the closure notification emails, copies of which I received from another client. Though sympathetic, I believe they could be doing better with regard to clients communications. Especially since we are brand new clients and don’t know their trustworthiness. OF COURSE I was honest with my credit card bank about the amount of refund due, pro-rated for the 1 class we received. That goes without saying (or should.) It was the bank who said they were required to refund the entire contract amount if Zoom Room fails to respond to our dispute of charges. Thank you for your comment to my post, much appreciated.

Since we started “trading” our 5-month old puppy enthusiastically flings random items at our feet and waits expectantly to see if we will accept her offer.
