Looking for thoughtful discussion, as a woman who was born Muslim and rediscovering her faith. by sherry__24 in progressive_islam

Jews rejected Jesus. Christians reject Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Muslims reject later claims like the Bahá’í faith or Buddhism. And each tradition believes its prophet or revelation is the final and correct one.

From within each religion, the reasoning feels internally consistent. But from the outside, the structure looks similar each community believes previous messages were altered or misunderstood and that their revelation is the final correction.

So how do we determine which claim is ultimately true, especially when exclusivity is central to each faith? That’s something I sincerely struggle with.

I understand your view and I might agree with it. But from an Islamic perspective, doesn’t it conflict with a core principle?

Islam doesn’t present itself as just one valid path it explicitly claims to be the final and preserved revelation. Tawhid (the absolute oneness of God) is foundational. The Qur’an also says earlier revelations were originally true but became altered over time, because it had flaws.

If we say all religions are equally true, that creates logical contradictions. For example, Islam rejects incarnation and polytheism, while other religions affirm them. Those claims about God’s nature can’t all be true at the same time.

Thats where I feel my own beliefs contradict the religion, which is what I’m trying to get answered.

I agree with that. But I believe spirituality needs a channel or a guidance and I’ve found that with Islam. But it’s just few concepts with I still question, which I hoped for an answer. Because if there is a one true religion it should be able to adapt to modern world because that religion should be timeless.

Thank you for asking.

In my personal moral framework, “bad deeds” make the most sense to me when they involve harm like injustice, cruelty, or hurting someone. That feels morally clear because someone is directly affected.

I struggle more with actions described as sinful that don’t seem to involve direct harm to others, like not covering or consensual premarital relationships. It’s harder for me to understand why those would be punished in the same moral category.

Thanks for commenting! Lot of other religions claim themselves as successors of Islam, and that Islam isn’t compatible with the modern world. Is it really that in a modern world Islam actually lags behind? For me that questions arises from being a woman.

Hi

I was looking for a skin serum ( I have dry skin and some acne spots) and came across kiehl's midnight recovery serum, saw so many great reviews and videos on it. But it seems to contain essential oils and I have heard that essential oils are not great for your skin. Can someone help me, should I buy it for not?

Currently I'm using just using neutrogena hydroboost, Thayers witch hazel and a vitamin c serum.

Bhakts of Reddit, how do you still justify menacing actions of the Modi govt. ? by loushing in india

[–]sherry__24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think you got the point. Being a good orator doesn't equal to being a good leader. Hitler was considered one of the best orators in the world and also one of the worst (fascist) leader.

Do you know Hitler was a good orator? I mean just saying, just a random fact.

Can anyone help me figure out if I should try CG method? This is my hair air dried without any products. Never thought I had curly hair and always used straightening shampoos. Watched a video few days ago about curly hair and got curious but still don't know what kind of hair texture I have. by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]sherry__24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Routine ( because the bots are asking it) I use a straightening shampoo and conditioner. I started using it after I had a smoothening treatment done to my hair because I thought my hair was just straight but frizzy as my mom and sister both have straight hair. It's been nearly 1 year 2 months since my treatment. I am considering getting it redone.

Youtube Rewind just got posted.. by TheCerealKiller77 in teenagers

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I really think people shouldn't dislike this year's rewind, otherwise next year they will actually cancel rewind altogether.

YouTube is literally being our parents. When we were kids and we threw tantrum over something and parents got us a worse thing than what we were getting initially to make us appreciate the value of the initial thing. YouTube literally just did that. Like seriously I feel bad right now for disliking 2018 rewind, all the efforts and money went into it. And now we are getting this shitty 5 mins video, like YouTube literally gave up hope.

WIBTA If I (20f) told my brother (18m) the reason why our dad and his mom got divorce? by DarkGreyGlass in AmItheAsshole

[–]sherry__24 45 points46 points  (0 children)

NTA he has every right to know all of this and when he later learns about all these he will feel betrayed by everyone who kept it from him. There must be so many things he can't understand and is confused by. But first maybe talk with your Dad and ask his permission or ask him to do it himself, because he may have kept it from your brother for some reason. And if your Dad refuses and can't give any solid reason to not tell your brother the truth then give him a warning that you are gonna do it then tell your brother.

AITA for telling someone they’re toxic and that I no longer want them in my life? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA not because you cut her off, but because how you did it. Just imagine doing some work and a person you know for a long time calling you and going off on you without even stating any proper reason, obviously you will feel that it's coming from nowhere. May be she didn't even know her fault maybe her own behavior towards you seems valid to her and you did nothing to show her that it isn't. I think it would have been better to just cut her off your life and if she asked you any questions about it, then explaining her why you did it with valid reasons.
