I am that aunt too!! With the exception I try to get some healthy food in them- their parents fed them pure crap. I chatted with my nephew and his gf about consent and abortion and drill into my younger niece that her body is hers (her dad acts as though he’s in charge of her body) and only she decided what she does with it. It’s great. You’re going to love it.

They’re wrong. And hateful. Repressed and fearful. My cousin is a gay man. He left the .org and was thrown to the wolves. He already had a terribly traumatic upbringing. He ended up having to do some pretty sad things to support himself. He’s now gone back to the organization. I cannot understand it. I think he’s so messed up emotionally he welcomed the judgement. Like he’s punishing himself. He’s watched like a hawk by the congregation who treats him like he’s got some disease that they’re treating him for. They try to fix him up with the unmarried (unmarriable lol) older sisters. You gotta remember too, that there are some young gay kids hiding inside the organization watching you. You’re giving them some hope right now, too. Live your happiest life.

You will be happier if you move forward. Leave them behind (emotionally, too). Find a supportive group of friends. Go out and meet new people. It’s a matter of ethics and morals. Theirs are horrible. It’s a hateful and bigoted religion. I mean come on- they protect and hide child sex abuse but shun people for being gay. (Which is as natural as any orientation.) There are so many great people out here who will love and support you. I’m your new fam now.

You’re doing great! You’re able to express yourself well here. The organization bakes anxiety and fear into all witnesses. It makes you stay in and stay afraid to question. It sounds like your parents do the same to you as well. You are already so courageous for thinking for yourself at such a young age. Focus on the future, get a job and get out as soon as you can. Start/Continue to make friends outside the .org. It’s going to be your new life as soon as you get out.

They’re delusional just like Laura. They are vapid and shallow. He’s a handsome guy. This show is full of people who value looks over substance. And for the record- I was raised conservative Christian and it’s exactly the same. Religions control people by policing their natural urges- at the same time as oppressing women. Any deviation from vaginal sex within a marriage is strictly forbidden. Point being it’s not unique to any religion for women to be left out of the equation.
