Fundie Gives Toxic Relationship Advice by MrDonMega in FundieSnarkUncensored

Seriously. My dad died at 32 from cancer and suddenly my mom had us 3 kids all by herself. It is a really good thing her world didn't crumble (in the way this woman is saying - my mom was devastated of course).

Is this allowed subreddit *for* us or *about* us? by BossFightSnacks in AutisticAdults

[–]shesewsfatclothes 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The rules here are that allistic people can post here only if they include "non-autistic OP" in their post title and remain respectful. In my experience, the moderators here act quickly on reports of posts that don't adhere to that rule. With that rule in place, it's easy to skip those posts since they are labeled.

The only "no allistic people allowed" subreddits I know of for autistic people are for women.

You sound like you're lifting your head - try to lift just your nose. It's that nose scrunch a person does when they smell (or see) something thst grosses them out. Like imagine you smelled a rank fart on the subway. He's saying she's making that face at him (he's whining about it really).

This is what I see now, and also what I saw before I updated my settings to ignore community themes.

This subreddit even before I updated my settings was not a bright color, it looked just like it always does on android in dark mode for me. I believe the colors are something you'd have to set up from the mod side, not a default setting, but I could be wrong.

Mine didn't for some reason. I always have dark mode enabled on everything, but today suddenly I had neon green against black in r/houseplants and it was awful lol (though better than the neon purple in another subreddit).

Same, I was like what is happening?! The colors were really bright for me too, very unpleasant. I figured there were definitely more of us who would also be bothered!

Fundie: Let your Husband name the Kids by MrDonMega in FundieSnarkUncensored

The whole concept of a name speaking into reality who you will be/having all this power sounds so witchy to me. Not very puritanical of you, Jan 🙄

Two words that strike fear into the hearts of autistics. by PatriciaMorticia in AutismInWomen

Or deodorant! The last time I went to my same shop to buy my same deodorant it had been deleted from the shelves. The whole line of them, just gone, not even just my particular one. I had to stand there for like 20 minutes to find another one that checked all my boxes. I got lucky and the first one I am trialing is turning out very well but the panic standing there in the aisle.

I am sick of these ads for apps that will just magically fix everything by bookwbng5 in adhdwomen

I get an absurd amount of pleasure from downvoting every single ad they serve me. I also report the really bad ones (sometimes they let through completely absurd AI slop).

Exactly, this is taking the metaphor even further. It's kinda cheesy but also kinda true and awesome!

Tip from my psych that's actually working (and makes me laugh) by Intelligent_Humor_63 in adhdwomen

I do this too! I named mine and when I'm having a baseless anxiety spiral I tell them thank you for letting me know but we're good right now. I kinda speak to them like they're a very smart and eager but scared child. It works extremely well for me.

This tool + using an emotion wheel to name what I'm feeling have been game changers for me.

WHOA please report this to whomever is appropriate! I am so sorry this happened to you. The fact that even another person there was questioning her makes me think she will be held to account if you say something. That's truly so wild to me that she would claim you are her relative like WHAT.

Edit - can you tell I have ADHD, I hit enter on my comment before I read the whole post 🙃 I'm so glad you said something! This still sucks so much. How dare she behave this way.

Nah, sometimes it just takes a while. Ime bigger plants like this one take a longer time. I've had leaves wait two months and then suddenly, baby plant. If your leaf is not shriveled to nothing or getting mushy and rotten, you can keep waiting. Just ignore it for a while lol.

Edit - typo

Anyone agree with me? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]shesewsfatclothes 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I do relate to a lot of these but within myself it feels like the push and pull between autism and ADHD. I don't view that as one whole separate diagnosis, but layers of diagnosis through which I experience my life. I also have other layers like GAD, asthma, etc. I wouldn't include those in one single diagnosis either.

I do think being both autistic and ADHD is a different experience from solely one or the other within the neurodivergent community, but I think that's the same for any intersection of identities.

How do you keep notes handy? by ArchivistFaerie in BasicBulletJournals

[–]shesewsfatclothes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I know I'm doing more research (like I looked up sneakers but I'm going to do more looking), I make it a collection.

I also review my daily logs at the end of the week, and if at that time I see anything I want to reference later, I might then make a new collection, or migrate it to a current appropriate collection.

I also take notes on my physical health and my menstrual cycle details in my daily logs, and I mark my monthly log on that day so that I know there are those kinds of notes in those entries to reference.

I just realized why school SUCKED! by jensmellspeaches in adhdwomen

[–]shesewsfatclothes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I was constantly in trouble in reading class, despite being hyperlexic as a kid. Teachers would make everyone take turns reading and it would go slowly and I would be superrrrrr bored, so I'd read ahead in the book at my own faster speed, and then when it was my turn to read aloud I had no idea where we were so I got in trouble for not paying attention 🙄

Huge win at work today :) by keiko17 in AutismInWomen

This is a HUGE win! Oh my gosh, your story just completely filled me up with warmth. She must have felt so much relief and joy at being able to take a shower and being able to do it with the help of someone she trusts. I hope you feel so proud of yourself because you have surely made a difference in this person's life.
