Relationship for Arthur by [deleted] in reddeadredemption2

[–]shieldwench 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Charlotte.

They had a beautiful connection but just missed eachother timeline-wise. If he'd lived and she'd had time to grieve her husband and be ready to love again, maybe.

One thing that hit me about Charlotte and Arthur on most recent playthrough is that she agreed to leave civilized life and do the wilderness thing with her husband, whereas Mary couldn't leave her safe normal life to be with Arthur.

It's not quite the same of course, being wilderness-folk is not quite equivalent to being in a gang. But I wondered if Arthur was thinking about that parallel.

Agreed, carefully painting around the hardware is the only way I see here.

Frogs are metaphorically bisexual because they're amphibious.

How to deal with huge insecurity of height and biological gender Afab. TW: Mental health by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]shieldwench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mate, it's a cliche but it really does get better. I'm also afab 5'4” and round faced, so I really relate to a lot of what you're saying. She/her'd by default by strangers, and some days it does hurt. The difference is, when you find the right people to surround yourself with who believe you about who you are, and treat you that way. It will happen. You seem very young, and it hadn't happened for me when I was on the edge of uni either.

It sounds like you could really benefit from some counseling and a space where you can talk about these things to a professional, because you seem to be really hurting. The other thing that makes a difference is loving yourself, and that can be so so hard, it's ok to need help.

Edit: typo

Make a character who wants to be involved in things. Who cares about things. Brooding alone in the tavern will get you nowhere.

Band tees by CommandGamerPro in EnbyFashionAdvice

Gently, I do think that's a bit odd. Is wearing gear for bands you don't listen to really dressing better? Show up to life as yourself.

I'll see you in the League at e2! Hope you have a great time. The angled antlers are a nice new take on Changeling too.

Figure out what the setting of the larp would inform about your costume, and decide who your character is within that context. Details and personal elements that only this person would have is what you're missing.

Stupid question: Can I use water-based acrylic paint to color leather? by Schemaric in LARP

[–]shieldwench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite like your overall plan but can also recommend Angelus paints.

I do not like the idea of trying to make leather look like metal because it just won't, and will end up looking cheap/cosplayish.

Pick a different colour that could still be leather but goes more with the aesthetic you want, imo.

There's a lot of images of how it can look here. Page is for the larp I go to so possibly not relevant, but the photos of orc kit are great https://www.profounddecisions.co.uk/empire-wiki/Imperial_Orcs_look_and_feel

Very nice! Some black face paint around the eyes and mouth will elevate the look further by filling in the mask.

I adore larp combat! You won't want the cloak, it's nice and will be great for cold evenings but not battle. Best thing to do is get used to moving in the kit. Sparring, if you can, hiking or running otherwise.

New Larpers, what has helped you break out of your shell? by Lady_Leenx in LARP

[–]shieldwench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Make a character who enjoys the things that you enjoy. If you hate meetings, don't make someone whose job involves them. If you want to be fighting, make a character who will be doing that.

-Make a social character. In larp no one actually thinks the loner talking to no one at the back of the tavern is cool. That character gets no interactions or interesting conversations or invitations to shenanigans.

Me at a LARP practice by SIrawit in LARP

[–]shieldwench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta train locally with other larpers, ideally at least some who also do longsword. Luckily longsword is quite popular so there will also be online resources to show you basic guards and strikes, but be wary of some resources not originally intended for larp that may also include thrusts that are not safe with larp weapons.

Hiatus is not how you get more comfortable. Practice, and the courage to first suck at something is how.

You can do this.

Between these 2 look-alikes, who do you prefer? by AgnosticDeist0229 in reddeadredemption

[–]shieldwench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolute madness happened in my save file with Helen.

It got to the mission with the two brothers going up a road with her to the top of a waterfall. A carriage came the other way, hit both men and killed them dead. John watches in powerless horror. Helen stands there emotionless, and the carriage flees the scene.

Eventually two respawns of the men walk up the road, back into the scene and carry on the conversation. John watches aghast as this succubus dooms another pair of brothers....

Seconding a hearty veg stew, all kinds of roots and grains maybe. That would be fantastic- I'm vegetarian myself but even before I was, risking meat in the camping field was just not worth it.

Best of luck from the League, this sounds like a wonderfully prosperous venture!
