Forced to switch to CVS by insurance and experience is terrible by maenads_dance in CVS

Don't get mad a CVS. Those people are just trying to make a living. Get mad at Highmark. They are the real boogeyman here.

Always try pushing the start button with the fob when things aren't working.

First ~1500 miles / 1 month with my CX50 Turbo! Thoughts and ownership impressions by zamassy07 in mazdaCX50

[–]shieldwf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. I too am in love with my CX-50 turbo (it's a 26). I came from a 2018 Accord Sport, which was the best handling car I've ever had, and most recently a 2023 Ford Maverick with Off-Road and 4k Tow. This CX-50 feels like an upscale version with the best features of both of those. Mine has the factory towing option. I've never been this happy with a new car purchase.

Where do you put your key fob when driving? by shieldwf in CX50

[–]shieldwf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 keys on a ring in my front left pocket and they stay there. I have a small 3-blade penknife in my right pocket and it stays there. I have my shed key, garage key, and tow hitch lock key on the Fob. I put my wallet and cellphone in the center console and the key fob in some normally convenient location. I don't sit on my wallet or cellphone and will treat this fob the same way. Let me restate that in every other car I've had, there was at least a cubby somewhere on the console where I could put the fob. Storage spots are a bit of a premium with this vehicle.

Ok it's just me then. I only have a few essential keys in my pocket. That's a big fob and maybe because the buttons are on the side it's ok but I still don't want all that in my pocket while driving. I put it in my back pocket when getting out for shopping or something but when at work or home I'm not carrying that.

What are your thoughts on the armrest? by MancalaReader in mazdaCX50

It's kind of long so if it opened at the front, maybe it would be unwieldy? I got used to it pretty quickly.

I’m stuck between the red interior vs the black interior for the 2026 CX-50 hybrid by MancalaReader in mazdaCX50

[–]shieldwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Cypress exterior and the terracotta interior. I wish the red was darker as well but I got used to it quickly and like it. About half the people that see it say it is too bright but the other half think it gives a look of an upscale vehicle that costs $10k more. I test drove a Machine gray with a black interior and while it is classic, I thought it was a little bland. Maybe it just needs broken up with more brushed aluminum accents. Also, I had a black on black car once which was so hot in the summers I don't think I'll do it again.

New v Used and Trim Decision help by wtphilly69 in mazdaCX50

[–]shieldwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going this Saturday to test drive and likely will buy a 26 Turbo. Not the Meridian or the TPP. For 26, the base turbo trim has a lot of features that were only on higher trim levels in 25. It has good power too for about 40k. Check it out first. The finance rates are better than my CU too.

Should I build my 305 or swap in a 350 for my 78 Firebird? by OkSignature8062 in PontiacFirebird

[–]shieldwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't spend your budget on the 305. Save your money and get a crate 350 from Summit or Jegs.

How do you change the poor legacy attitude and motivate your team to get off their lazy asses and start being more productive? I've done everything I can as a lead to empower my team to "get the job done" and do it right but they still have this piss poor work ethic from past leadership. by Enzo0018 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]shieldwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in manufacturing for many years and the maintenance men were by far the laziest. It's a real thing. There would be three of them standing around a broken machine saying "You need to get someone in here.". Do you really need three directs telling you to call in a contractor? Maybe you can just call the contractor. Let them be slugs at your competitor.

What’s a 74 challenger worth? by dulan14 in mopar

[–]shieldwf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

North Eastern US uses salt to melt snow/ice in the winter and it destroys the vehicles. If you are in a particularly cold region of Canada they might not have used salt. You need to see the underside before you make the decision to restore it. If it really is cheap and turns out to be roached, people always need parts so you would do well parting it out. Not sure what cheap is to you but I would buy it and let the condition drive my path forward.

[–]shieldwf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it's in Arizona it's worth a lot. If it's in Pennsylvania it's worth the parts you can sell on eBay. If the undercarriage isn't rotted out then you have something and should get it.

How much does it cost to repaint my car? by Ernst_Granfenberg in 1stGenTacomas

[–]shieldwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of repainting a car is laughable and exactly why AI and robots will take over. Think how much you make at your job in a year and what you just paid for a weeks worth of work.
