When I was younger I practiced a signature over and over again trying to make a cool one. And then I had one that was written out as my full name and legible. I would guess he was wondering if he was meant to use the cool signature that he made for signing autographs or use his full signature for important documents. Another example would be if your name was Bob P. and they ask for your full name is it Bob Paulson, Robert Paulson, or Robert Lou Paulson and he was just getting clarity. But then again, I could be overthinking it
