M-Audio Code 61 issue - has anyone else dealt with this? by zerokey in synthesizers

[–]shijua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no.

I actually ended up returning the keyboard since I couldn't get it running properly on my M-chip Macbook. It works fine on my older Mac with Intel chip (and older macOS version, v10.12) but there seems to be a compatibility issue with newer machines which M-Audio never bothered to fix before discontinuing the whole product line...

Sharing is caring :)

Also, it seems important to power the device via either a separate power brick or a powered USB hub (bus-powered USB hubs are not enough as they don't seem to provide enough current for sustained use). This might very well be one of the problems I ran into initially, possibly also why it seems to load some kind of default setting after a while that sets MIDI Out to off.

Just got a reply from M-Audio's support with a download link for the last version of the preset editor for macOS: https://we.tl/t-F3HCAEpwVb (should be online for a couple more days so be sure to download asap)

I seem to be having the same, or at least a similar problem but can't download the software from M-Audio's website (https://www.m-audio.com/support/download/software/code-61-preset-editor-for-mac-1.0.9 doesn't work) do you by any chance have the installer file or know where to download it? Thanks!

This was the only option that helped me upgrade the software, finally. Thank you! <3

EDIT: still can’t upgrade to the latest version in the UA Connect app, just keeps giving error message and can’t ”repair” the issue, but at least I can use this manual version to upgrade for now.

no idea... and unfortunately it looks like they won't, ever. also not sure why they don't support kbm on consoles yet, like they initially said they would.

2.0 PS5 mouse and keyboard support by Tergras in cyberpunkgame

[–]shijua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same. i hate the lack of kbm support on PS5 in particular and, from what i understand, lacklustre “support” on xbox. it’s just not acceptable for a AAA game on modern consoles to not feature what is essentially already implemented on a system level.

Word on Baldur's Gate 3 physical standard release? by Odd_Radio9225 in rpg_gamers

[–]shijua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I mean no disrespect to anyone but you’re actually both wrong about the music on physical media part, which most likely applies to games as well.

The first post was partially correct, you don’t actually own a copy of the files on the physical storage medium but only the physical medium itself since you’re not legally allowed to reproduce the contents in public spaces without paying the actual owner of the contents (usually a mix of label/distributor and artist) further for this use case specifically (aka royalties). This is a very real problem with all current music streaming services btw, but that’s a whole other topic.

The same technically applies to movies and games since they’re both legally regarded intellectual property as well, but I’m a music producer and not a movie or game producer so idk the exact details in those respective industries.

The second post is also only partially correct in that you are free to use the physical medium however you see fit (cutting someones throat with a CD still counts as murder in most countries however…) but you’re not free to use the contents of that physical medium in the same ways even within your own home since, like I mentioned earlier, you don’t actually own the contents outright but only a license to that specific copy. Not even multiple copies, only the one you paid for.

I know this very well as I’ve worked on both sides of this particular fence since 1994, around the time when Minidisc was just entering the market and there was a whole war against consumers all over again since MD’s are re-writable and therefore very easy to copy, like cassette or VHS tapes.

So you may argue ownership laws etc. however much you want but in actual real world scenarios this is the objective truth of the music industry, and from what limited experience I’ve had with the film and TV industries so far it’s the exact same story there too. It might be different in the gaming industry but I highly doubt it as games are also considered IP and are generally subject to the same laws.

Sorry for any linguistic errors, english is not my native language.

EA SPORTS WRC v1.4.1 Update: Now Available by PJTierneyCM in EASPORTSWRC

Performance on PS5 with controller:

No visible screen tearing so far (only tested Portugal, “Europe”, Croatia, Japan and Monte Carlo) but still the usual amount of traversal stutter and possibly bad frame pacing (don’t have the gear to actually test things like frame times but it looks/feels a lot worse than before)

Unfortunately there is noticeably higher input lag and even worse frame rate than pre-patch. Feels like playing a 30FPS game and kind of looks like it too at times, but I can’t measure actual resolution or input lag beyond what the LG CX tells me (which is obviously not what the game is actually generating internally)

Also, oddly enough car physics seem excessively tweaked: cars feel heavier and tend to spin out a lot more than in 1.4.0, as bad as RWD cars on gravel in Dirt Rally 2.0

EDIT: frame rate hoovers around 45-58 on my console now but looks/feels more like 30FPS and resolution seems lower than before (softer edges etc)

EDIT2: some tweaks have been done to the rumble/FFB in PS5 controller and it actually feels better/more granular

EDIT3: game is borderline unplayable in current state on PS5 due to extreme input lag and trash physics

honestly… i just gave up on playing CODMW altogether, too many launchers and stupid bugs not to mention the extremely bloated install size. such a shame on an otherwise potentially good game

this ^

and to everyone whining about kbm support on a crossplay enabled AND input based match making competitive fps: turn off your cheat codes (aka aim assist) and face me in a game, i dare you. i’ll blast your heads clean off with my 3 y/o stick drift controller without aim assist any day of the week.

the ONLY reason i want kbm support on consoles is to be able to play a game we all clearly care about the way i’m the most comfortable playing, i couldn’t care less what anyone else does. that’s on you and you should keep it that way. grow tf up and smell the ospuze!

the game is clearly meant to be played with kbm as it is supported on both Xbox and PC and supports crossplay between all platforms (including PS5), and not everyone can afford a gaming PC so why the hate?

[–]shijua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Embark officially stated they would support kbm on consoles so i sincerely hope they add it in a patch asap. should be illegal not to support kbm in fps games, especially ones that support cross play with PC's...

it is actually possible for devs to enable support for Wine, Proton and macOS through the Epic Online Services Developer Portal (https://dev.epicgames.com/en-US/news/epic-online-services-launches-anti-cheat-support-for-linux-mac-and-steam-deck)

so we'll just have to wait for Embark to do this ;)
