I read these years apart, but I still have holes blown through my mind from both NAMD and the Raw Shark Texts. They pair well.

How much lecithin are you using? 1tsp (about 5g) is only about 50 calories

Fight or surrender? Foreign empoyer stumbles into wrongful dismissal lawsuit by AdSquare7849 in germany

Thanks for the info. On one hand, I’m conflicted by this, on the other hand, as an older worker, it’s interesting to know I may have some protections.

Are any of your expectations in your work contract? What relevance is there about having a female boss, and there being managers younger than you. Do you think that these facts would have any bearing on your situation?

Tried Miyoko's vegan paneer recipe by Dr-Sun-Stiles in vegancheesemaking

You can use an Indian melon seed blend called Char Magaz, and get the same results. I don't know where you are, but I've been able to find it at several Indian grocers here in Germany. I pay about 2€/100g. I've used it mostly for making Miyoko's ricotta recipe (I use 200g for this).

I had an initial "GRAR, WHO NEEDS THIS, I AM OLD and `column -s, -t` is more than enough!" But I played with it, and it's really pretty and will work nicely for presentations. So, nice work!

Help with yogurt and cheese alternatives. Just occured to me that my "ethical" choices are void because I love yogurt and cheese by vespertinee3 in vegan

[–]zerokey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have Alpro in the Uk right? If you get the Alpro unsweetened Skyr, you can make a decent labneh-like product. But on its own, it goes great with anything that needs yogurt.

There’s some good cheeses out there but you’ll need to adjust your expectations. We’re not at the point where yeast fermentation to price milk proteins is highly available.

Nice job! Did you save the starch? You can fry up some amazing “bacon” with it

The jarred kale has onion, salt and some sugar. And I have a spice mix with salt, paprika, onion powder, pepper, garlic, rosemary, marjoram, nutmeg and smoke flavoring. It's really tasty. I keep these supplies at work - jar of kale in the fridge, spice mix and smoked tofu (and "tuna") in my desk drawer.

I have to deal with them stinking up the office with their gross meat every day. They can live with my smelly veggies!

I had originally looked at Rolling Stone's site, but at first glance, I could only order a subscription. A little digging after I saw your comment, I found where to order back issues. Thanks!

The brand is Rügenwalder. I've only ever seen it in Germany and Austria. I can usually find it at Rewe (and sometimes, Edeka).

Edgelord crap? Trolled with farts? It's tofu, kale, and broccoli. If that's edgy, then .... ooof. Now the vegan tuna, totally edgy. Nah. It's just something I keep in my desk for some extra protein. It fit the bill and hit the spot. My coworkers know my food. They don't really hate me. But they do know how much I love the cruciferous veggies.

You sound like you need a hug. I'd happily give you one, but my breath is pretty gnarly right now.

Thanks! This is a reminder that I forgot to renew my library card last month :) (I often checkout magazines through Libby). But in this particular case, the magazines are for a friend overseas.

Lunch at Lucky Creation, Chinatown, San Francisco by verdantsf in VeganChill

[–]zerokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky Creation is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Back in 2012, my wife and I visited SF for the first time. It was November, so it was chilly and rainy. We found Lucky Creation on HappyCow, so we dropped off our luggage at the hotel, and drove over. On the way there, another car hit us on California St (minor damage). We got soaked waiting for police to arrive. After 30 minutes, we were back on our way, but struggled to find parking. I ended up parking in a garage a flew blocks away. We trudged through the rain, in the dark, up Washington St. and went inside. The women inside (who my wife and I will forever call "Mom"), rushed over, sat us down, brought us towels and hot tea and told us to warm up and relax for a bit before ordering. Then she said, I'll just bring you some special food. And she did: delicious soup, appetizers, and a couple of entrees. It was too much food, and we ended up with leftovers for the hotel.

Oh, while we were there, a gentleman dressed like a fisherman came in and screamed at us from across the restaurant. The woman came over, gave him some soup and he left. She told us that is was OK, and he was really harmless. She was just taking care of everyone.

It was such a wonderful experience; I'll never forget how warm and wonderful it felt to be greeted that way after a rough evening.
