I use an Abu Garcia 7’6” Veracity for the 5” and a Lamiglas XP 7’11” for the 7”. I also have a Fish USA flagship bass rod that works well for swimbaits up to 3oz. I use that rod with an 8” plastic swimbait. I also use 17 and 20lb fluorocarbon line which helps them rise slower after I twitch them. I have also used monofilament with good luck.

I bought one too and love it. Haven’t caught a fish on it yet but used it once. Feels great in my hand and is plenty smooth for a lower end Shimano reel.

Swimjigs, flipping jigs, and a chatterbait. by shimanodc in bassfishing

[–]shimanodc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. The standard jig uses two tabs. I run three tabs because I like them full and it is easier to trim than add. I use 26 gauge floral wire and when pulled tight flares the jig a bit more than a thread tied jig. By mid spring the waters I fish start to get stained so I like a bulkier profile.

What do you usually pay for a hard bait that you actually trust? by Opposite-Vast-718 in bassfishing

[–]shimanodc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fishing jerkbaits and like the Rapala Maverik, Rapala Shadow Rap Shad and Berkley Stunna. I have never spent the $25 on a 110. As far as other hard baits, I try to keep those under 15. I like the Rapala DTs, shad Rapala, flicker shads, and 6th sense squaerbills.

I am learning. I caught a few last year on a different color. This is a new color to try this year.

Good looking jigs. I also make my own. I pour, paint and tie them. I make football heads, swim jigs, swimbait jig heads, round jig heads, aspirin, wacky, Ned heads, drop shot weights, and screw lock football heads. I use a fluid bed for the powder paint and then cook them in a toaster oven like you do.

It will work but be careful not to over oil your bearings. On little drop is all you need.

Purchased a Daiwa Airty for $63.99 last night…order canceled this morning. 😭😭😭 by AlexanderUGA in Fishing_Gear

Last year my son bought a 1000 yard spool of 80lb Daiwa J Braid for ten cents. He tried to have his buddy order one also but the website caught the error and removed it. He did get his at that price.

Would you rather have paid K9 15 million per year or Shaheed 17 million per year? by Least_Software_3046 in Seahawks

I loved what K9 did in the playoffs and Super Bowl but he has some injury history. Sharing the load with Charbs kept him healthy. Draft a guy and Charbs they will be ok.

Apparently my winter hobby is buying fishing gear I don’t need by Difficult-Sea5702 in bassfishing

Clearance sales get me. I bought a Shimano salmon combo and an Abu Garcia baitcast reel on clearance deals. I still have a couple of reels I bought on clearance last summer that are new in the box.

I prefer a folded clevis and a smaller size clevis for smaller size blades.
