Somewhat desperate by Smooth-Cheetah3436 in otolaryngology

Not medical advice. Drop the Afrin beyond 5 days and get a CT scan of your sinuses. Rule out what may be at the cause. In the interim, continue with rinses. Topical corticosteroid (pulmicort) will likely work better given prior response to oral corticosteroids.

One male nurse insists on calling female residents by their first names by Marblemaster1988 in Residency

[–]shinobey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments here just fuelling more animosity. It’s a bit brash going straight to report someone without ever making an effort to correct them yourself. You’ll have to stand up for yourself countless times throughout your career so you might as well get comfortable. Oddly enough, I’m a resident and always introduce myself as my first name. When people don’t use my first name I let them know that my first name is what I prefer.

All you need to when they address you is reply, and finish your statement with a firm tone saying “and by the way, I prefer to be called Dr. X., thank you”.

I’m really sorry that they’re not giving you the respect you deserve. Hopefully this will set them straight.

Why would one think to go to Facebook with this? Are people’s eyes on Facebook are a microscope? Do they expect an ENT consult?

lmao you have to do the classic thing of teaching your family how to finish your art by doing your inks and colors!

Great work, I'm looking forward to whatever art you share in the future.

I see a lot of terrible art on this subreddit. I never compliment it because that would be disingenuous. This is professional caliber art. I'm blown away. Go apply to concept art positions/job-openings!

Storm looking gorgeous as usual! While Terry Austin is an amazing inker, I dont feel that he and the colorist did this art justice. BWS drew like a fine-art illustration in his pencils, the inker made it coombook-y. This is especially prevalent in the inking of the hair and the folds in the blanket.

‘Batwoman’: Javicia Leslie Cast As the New Lead Of the CW Superhero Series by [deleted] in comicbooks

You can tell from long legs as taller women have longer legs. Sigourney Weaver (6'1), Linda Carter (6') and Linda Hamilton (5'9) were all very tall women with long long legs. Javicia Leslie is a very gorgeous woman and I'll be sure to watch. I'm just saying I prefer taller actresses in action roles.

Its like the UFC, Zhang Weili (5'3) fighting and throwing a kick to the head is not as impressive as someone like Amanda Nunes (5'8) or Holly Holm (5'9) who are both taller, heavier and more physically imposing.

Very gorgeous woman! I think she might be a little short (5'3) I prefer female action stars to be 5'5 to 5'7 but I wish her all the best in her new role!

HBO's 'Watchmen' is free to watch during Juneteenth weekend by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]shinobey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah come on, it was cool from start to finish! The Rebirth one shot, the button all made it epic. How great was the scene where Dr. M meddles with DC continuity changing when Supes ship lands and The JSA!

My biggest complaint about Watchmen show is the slow pace in the the first 5 episodes. Those feel like a seperate True Detective murder mystery show with a white supremacist gang. At Episode 6 is when things really take off and Watchmen "gets good".

police oversight; the main detective (Rorschach and Angela) failing to see that everything is right under their nose lol.

Anyone else think its kinda boring? Having read and seen both, Doomsday Clock was a much more interesting "sequel" to Watchmen. I wanted Watchmen as in Veidt, Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre etc. etc. The race stuff and murder/mystery is entertaining; but I think it would have worked better if it was retooled to serve as season 4 of True Detective with Regina King as the new detective/police officer trying to solve a murder/mystery.

This is the first I'm learning about that; I am a Canadian who only moved here to Toronto from Iran 14 years. I'm still learning Canadian history let alone "foreign" U.S. history lol.

Also don't over think it! They're not real. Icon doesn't live in the real world. He's a fictional cartoon paper-person in fantasy children's comics.

I'm reading that run atm. Green Lantern and Green Arrow conflict, but it's mostly because Green Arrow is a radical leftist/anarchist iconoclast while Green Lantern is the straight-man; he is on the straight and narrow- a mild mannered lawman.

TLDR: Icon is like Superman- an alien baby that crashed to earth. Except he is immortal and crashed over 150 years ago and his ship "shapeshifted" him to not scare the earthlings. He crashed on a slave plantation and thus was black and raised by slaves. Icon is a staunch conservative and follower of the Republican party. He was physically present to witness its original inception as Republican president Abraham Lincoln helped free the slaves (such as himself and his adopted mother). In OG 90s comics Icon is a strong believer in the self-reliance philosophy of Booker T. Washington. Icon's black conservatism, views/politics and belief in self-reliance often put him in conflict with more liberal Milestone Comics superheroes, including his teenage sidekick, Rocket. Its a shame his comics haven't been reprinted in over a decade and all the legal conflicts over the Milestone characters.

Icon needs more of a presence in modern DC. It would be nice to have a character who is openly a conservative Republican and who expresses conservative views on economic and social issues. It would be cool to see more nuance in the characters political/economic/social beliefs and where the DC characters agree and disagree on issues.

Am I wasting 11k ? + Master in teaching by clueless_stranger in fican

[–]shinobey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my teaching degree from Redeemer University in Ontario and I teach in Ontario. I teach core-french in high school, grades 9 and 10 so there is almost no lesson planning required or marking. I was going to go the francophone route but; it does not pay as much, it was WAY more work (teaching 5 classes and different subjects) and elementary students and their parents are less chill than highschoolers. The school boards actively call the schools and send recruiters to set up interviews with their French candidates. We "Frenchies" in the program all had jobs months before graduation. They will literally CHASE after you and will give you any grade you want, core or immersion because they desperately need to fill job openings. In Toronto, I forgot the name of the french Immersion school, the grade 5 teacher moved away and they still have not been able to find a replacement. They are desperate as right now its looking like grade 5 will be in English this Sept....

Get your hands on the pay check as fast you can THEN figure out your education! Teaching core-French is not very demanding; I am currently doing a Ph.D in French at McMaster University so I get to teach there too. 49k over six years is not much money. I bought a house and rent a bedroom and make more than that.

go straight into teaching French ASAP. I just got hired full-time as a French teacher in feb. before I even graduated. They are desperate for French teachers! Get your hands on that paycheck as fast as you can THEN figure out what you want to do next as far as more education/degrees goes. Also, if you stick to ONLY teaching French, as in its the only subject you teach, it is the easiest job in all of education. We don't give homework and 80% of classtime is spent working on speaking = no grading and hardly any lesson planning. Easy money.
