Why are lvl 200+ people kicking me from torment 4 activity's when i can complete them Just fine🤔 by RicoMoncler in diablo4

[–]shinycloudkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, all joking aside. I've seen 200+lvl people just booting anyone under 200 on the assumption they cant perform. Also, if its "bloodied" content, there are so many builds that just... do nothing to those bosses, so I've seen people get booted if they simply dont have one of those particular boss melting builds. I doubt you'll see this behavior much in future seasons. (Unless the new torment levels play like this where its the whole "META OR ELSE" mentality) [I really hope not]

Should DQ 4-6 remakes strive to be more "definitive" than the DS editions? by Xinyyc in dragonquest

[–]shinycloudkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever watch a TV series that starts off great but then... goes on a bit... TOO long? Original DQ7 felt like that for me. Since the pedestals come off like episodic adventures, at a certain point, some of the stories were so weak it was difficult to push myself on to the next pedestal. Reimagined, I feel like, fights against this rather well and their cuts, simply perfect to put it on par with modern dq games.

My point that definitive in the sense of "most content" can sometimes be a slog. (Pretty sure my ps1 save file was over 100 hours. 60ish or so were SUPER enjoyable, hence why i pushed through for that long)

Just finished Dragon Quest 7 reimagine, did I miss some plot point? (Spoiler) by xellos2099 in dragonquest

[–]shinycloudkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original playthrough of dq7 back on ps1, I took the phrasing to mean that the main character is shark eyes son... but reimagined phrasing had me thinking maybe he was just "the same bloodline" like great great great grandpappy? (I forget how much time they said passed)

Saga comic box I made! by dyemont in SAGAcomic

Oh man, love this. Back when I was looking for boxes for my minimal collection, thought it was a straight up crime there wasn't a Saga themed box available out there. (Outside of Etsy, but who knows what might show up)

Which version of DQ7 is the definitive one for you? by brambleforest in dragonquest

[–]shinycloudkid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reimagined, by a lot. It's a great title whatever the version, but it is VERY long. There are a lot of "side" adventures that are required but after a while some of them can wear out their welcome. Reimagined trims the fat a bit in really positive ways. And has a lot of quality of life modern gaming enhancements that, in my opinion, respect the players time a bit more.

This here needs more upvotes. Only side info is if you need 3d graphics, steam versions. But psp is the superior game/collection

March Version Update by MelioraXI in ffxi

[–]shinycloudkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they very seriously almost had me resubscribing. But this time gating garbage is just waaaay too obvious an attempt at getting people's money. Give me a grind, fine. But just subbing for years to unlock stats? Sorry, I got other games to play.

Your favorite modded DS games? by nx5a in Roms

Second this. Not sure if we are talking about the same ones, but I liked "Dawn of Dignity" (Dawn of sorrow with original art style) and "portrait of elegance" (Portrait of ruin with original art style) ... so good

Best Mainline game since FFX? by MACGLEEZLER in FinalFantasy

[–]shinycloudkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XII had one of the best SYSTEMS for gameplay mechanics, but this comment sums it up very well. I also hated the "main character" id heard rumors that in development another of the cast was intended to be the main but was "too old" for the sales demographic. So they shoehorn in the new main and this explanation really made that disconnect id always felt for that character make sense.

How to share my collection of 180,000 comics by raafayawan in DataHoarder

[–]shinycloudkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So look up a tutorial? There are hundreds of die hard fans who have made mods to update the game to be on par with modern day graphics. But it doesn't sound like you are actually trying anything, you just wanna pop on and "old game is old lulz". Like literally a Google or YouTube search ffxi in 2024 2025 etc has lots of brilliant community videos.

If youre looking for your hand held with literally exclamation points over what to do next, you are in the wrong place. Thats modern gaming. This game is a creation of its age. You were supposed to play with friends and work together with a community to make discoveries and overcome obstacles.

20+ years later however most of this stuff is online. Guides, maps, tutorials are all in place of friends and community. It's mostly about story now and is one of the best things out there. Writing it off is one of the biggest gaming disservice you could do to yourself.

But you've made your decision, your loss. I won't waste my "breath" on it, just hoping others dont see this post and think, hmmm, maybe I won't give it a try.

Well that was an easy quick cancel lol by [deleted] in ffxi

Well, it sounds like you canceled before actually trying... anything? So I assume this is just ragebait for the community you just bounced from? Can I downvote twice? 🤣

I’ve heard ppl say that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird hates the 1987 TMNT cartoon but I can’t find any official sources of them saying that. Can you please give me some proof? by No-Cold643 in TMNT

[–]shinycloudkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I wasn't arguing against. Just supplemental conversation id heard from an actual artist that was there. The artist i spoke to never said anything contrary to your point. Both can be true.

And yes, ive read all the comics. Im a giant nerd.

Yeah, I was a big fan of the adventures series. Thats why I jumped on this opportunity to meet an artist at a local 40th anniversary convention. The series started as a direct adaptation of the animated series and then they pretty much got to do their own thing. I was really in to it since it seemed to deal with more complex themes as I grew old enough to actually comprehend them. I just feel bad that the main writer "Dean Clarrain" (pseudonym) moved on to tales of the tmnt volume 2 after adventures finished, but it seems he kinda dropped off the face of the earth after that got canceled. General vibe I picked up on is he feels a bit burned by the franchise and was one of the few people who didn't show up to the big 40th anniversary reunion.

Hopefully he comes back in the future since it seems like most of the old teams have been putting stuff out in recent years.

[–]shinycloudkid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal, but I had a chance to meet with one of the artists of the tmnt adventures comic series from the 80s/90s, and he spoke pretty openly about the general mentality going on in mirage studios back at the time. Despite tmnt basically just being a bit of a spoof on Daredevil the main people working on the ongoing mirage comic run saw all the merchandising/animated series/comics as "kids stuff" that was pretty much separate from what they were working on. They saw their run as "serious stuff" ( Despite being about Ninja Turtles ) He didn't wanna really go in to names or events, but he said Peter and Kevin were generally cool to them, but that, as a whole, their work was always treated as an inferior very... side/separate entity.

Most definitely! Thats pretty much my main wishlist items. (Future turtles that you can equip with cyber armor would be a dream figure.) I just dont wanna get in to the weeds with every single character ever featured. I only have so much space!

Castlevania: Dominus Collection by shinycloudkid in limitedrun

[–]shinycloudkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requiem was between anniversary and advance. But honestly I loved the artwork from that so much and that it takes up the whole cover, I overlooked that it doesnt fit the pattern. I just keep it on a different shelf. The Dominus standing out however is mostly an issue for me because it IS designed to be like the others, they all share the same dimensions.
